I just got my iPhone this month. Something I'm figuring out is that games imported to smart phones are better off played on the platform they came from.

The game is exactly how is supposed to be. It's a near perfect port of The Ultimate Doom. There's only one problem. I really hate the controls for this iOS port.

They made flipping switches and opening doors easy enough. All you do it walk right up to them and it will trigger. There a separate button for shooting. To change your weapon you need to press on the guy's head at the bottom of the screen. And to move around you move your thumb around the left side of the screen.

My problem is that using the touch screen as a controller makes if difficult to move around and aim at times. Several secrets are also a pain in the ass to get to since you're required to dash from on area to the next. I find doing so very difficult.

If you must have it then I'd recommend getting it. It's still DOOM and it's quite cheep on The App Store. Though I haven't been able to check it out apparently DOOM Classic supports multiplayer. Doom has always been one of my favorite games to play multiplayer on and I'm disappointed I couldn't try it out with my iPhone.

I give this version of Ultimate Doom a 7/10.
