ECW Hardcore Revolution
Nintendo 64
2000
When WWE/F decided to drop Acclaim as their game publisher and stole THQ from WCW Acclaim started to make ECW games. ECW Hardcore Revolution came out six months after WWF Attitude and it shows!
The worst thing about this game is that you need to enter three bottoms to do very basic moves like a body slam or a hip toss! Unless you're alright with being left to kicks and punches. And tag team matches are hard to stomach since you need to change your sight from your opponents to your partner.
The games does have a impressive list of wrestlers and options! All your ECW favorites are here along with some backstage job guys. And you get a great list of options like create a PPV or arena. The create a wrestler is better then what TNA had for their Impact game! You even get barbed wire matches. Even though they may not be fun to play at least there's something to make it different from WWF Attitude.
ECW was known for having some awesome crowds but in this game they are either silent or saying something weird. I'll admit there some funny lines like Player One is loads of fun. It didn't sound like a ECW crowd though.
This game shows a misunderstanding of why ECW became so popular. WWE and WCW sucked in the early to mid '90s so wrestling fans embraced the ECW product. This game on the other hand is WWF Attitude with a coat of paint over it.
Despite its great list of options this game is really no fun once you start the match. ECW was a great promotion but a shit video game. I recommend staying away from this title. If you really need a ECW video game get Anarchy Rulz. It's a little bit better. A little bit.
I give this game a
2/10.
