This game is what happens when the world of Dungeons & Dragons meets Golden Ax. And we ended up with a good game.

So like Golden Ax you walk to the right and beat up bad guys. Chronicles of Mystara allows you more choice when you select you character. You get varied magic attacks. You also get items like hammers to throw or throwing knifes.

At the end of each level you are taken to a shop where you can sell and buy items. You don't regain your health back at the beginning of a new stage so it would be smart to buy health potions... Well if you don't want to die anyway. Unlike Golden Ax or even Final Fight you almost have a unlimited amount of lives, which really takes away from the challenge of this game. You will have to restart a level if all players die.

A neat feature is the ability to branch off, picking where you go in the game. You'll be asked if you want to save a dwarf village or take some road instead. This really adds to the replay ability to this game.

As a fan of beat em ups and hack n slash games I had fun playing this title. If your a fan of Golden Ax or Final Fight then this title is for you. The only problem you might have like all titles of this gene is that the fighting can get repetitive at times. It supports up to four players.

I give this game a 8/10.
