As XWA returns from it’s usual commercial breaks, the camera pans the crowd, still buzzing with anticipation of the things to come for tonight. After a while, it then cuts to the commentary team.
|Cedar| ”We still have a lot in store for you, folks! We just got back from an incredible match between Crystov Razetti and James Carlisle, and later tonight The Prized Gem will go toe to toe with The Silent Protagonist! I’m still shocked of the events earlier, though. Why would Diamond side with these maniacs?”
|Miles| ”Why the hell not!? You know Ted, if you could stop bitching our ratings would be a lot higher.”
As the two commentators continue with their seemingly endless arguments, the lights suddenly dim in the arena, coinciding with “Sumeria” by Devin Townsend Project blaring through the arena. Upon hearing the GodKing’s war song, the crowd quickly fills the arena with jeers. They haven’t forgotten the sick and twisted beating Eric Goodman has endured just two weeks ago from Vladimir Strife. A few moments pass, and the Czar of Scars walks out from the backstage area, clad in his usual ring attire and a trenchcoat. He stands in the middle of the stage, while the San Diego’s jeers grow even louder upon seeing the EVPW legend. Vladimir pays no mind to this, looking a bit more serious than usual. He then begins his slow, methodic march towards the ring.
|Watts| ”The following contest is set for one fall! On his way to the ring, 6’0 feet tall and weighing 234 pounds, he is from Sighisoara, Romania; Vladimir Stife!”
|Cedar| ”Strife doesn’t look as cocky as he usually is right now, after all, his opponent for tonight has a win over Maddox Paine.”
|Miles| ”Speaking of his opponent, where the fuck is Azrael? No one’s seen him since earlier tonight when Diamond called him out, and even then his face was all bandaged and shit. What the fuck!?”
As The Sinner reaches the bottom of the ramp, he heads for the steel steps. Unbeknownst to him, a man clad in a rather old, ragged hoody, and plain jeans jumps the barricade and begins stalking him from behind. As the man starts to close in on the GodKing, his features become more apparent. Well kempt brown hair, looking a little aged. The man gets closer to the Personification of Wrath, and as Vladimir finally senses something amiss, he turns to face the man following him. They both stare at each other, Vladimir looking like his patience is running out. The man tilts his head, gazing right through the Czar of Scars. As The Sinner’s patience runs out, he winds his arm back and launches a swift right fist. Unfortunately for him, it catches nothing but air, the man seems to have anticipated it, sidestepping to the right. Before the GodKing can stirke once more, the man quickly kicks his shin, causing Strife to wobble as he tries to regain balance. The man follows it up, as if in a trance, with a kick behind the same leg’s thigh. The Czar of Scars drops to one knee, prompting the hooded man to back up a bit, then charge right back at his target. He steps on Vladimir’s knee, using it to propel himself up and drive his knee right into Strife’s chin. The GodKing drops down to the ground from the strike. A part of the crowd even begins to cheer for the unnamed man, as he’s giving Strife what’s been coming to him.
|Cedar| ”Strife’s actually on the ground!”
|Miles| ”Who the hell is this? He looks like he’d be found in a law firm, or the cold, unforgiving streets of New York considering what he’s wearing. Where’s security?”
As the man gets himself back to a vertical base, security is seen rushing from the backstage area. This makes the man quickly grasp The Sinner’s arm, only to irish whip him towards the ring post. Strife hits the cold steel head first, his head bouncing from the impact before dropping back to one knee. The man quickly runs towards his target and lifts him up, rolling him into the ring, following closely as he slides into the ring. The hooded man stares the group of security guards down, who are now at the bottom of the ramp. The referee orders Vladimir’s aggressor to leave the ring, which prompts him to bring out a leathery object from his pocket. He throws it at the official, who then realizes that it is a brown mask with long hair attatched to it. With people discovering that this hooded man is actually Azrael, everyone seems shocked, as he doesn’t exactly look like a psychopath. The surprised state of the crowd doesn’t last long, though, as they quickly boo at the former Hopeful member.
|Miles| ”THAT’S AZRAEL!? NO FUCKING WAY. HE LOOKS LIKE SOME TEACHER WHAT THE FUCK!?”
|Cedar| ”Well, I guess it is true when they say that looks can be decieving, Joey”
The referee doesn’t know if he is to believe that this is the man from earlier, but his doubts are soon removed when the man barks at him in a rather calm yet serious manner.
|Azrael| ”What the hell are you waiting for, Sanu? Get these men in black out of here, and ring the bell”
With his voice being exactly as that of The Masked Man’s, Ryu Sanu does as he’s told. The official tells the security to leave, and orders for the bell to be rung. Azrael faces his opponent, who is now trying to get to his feet, using the ropes for support, as the bell signals the start of the match.
