From The Examiner

Dr. Jerry Wiseman wrote:
It has been a little over a year since the ownership of the National Wrestling Alliance, the oldest governing body in professional wrestling changed hands. The change was wrought with controversy, lawsuits, accusations of sabotage, and a general malaise as well as plenty of mistrust and unhappiness. There were a number of long-time promotions that dropped out of the NWA and several more who took their place, some of whom have come and gone like a fair weather fan.

Through all of the controversy and negative press NWA President R. Bruce Tharpe soldiered on and weathered the storm that never seemed to die down. Month after month accusations were levied that the NWA would become nothing more than a “Texas promotion” (the NWA is now headquartered in Texas) and that the new owners including Chris Ronquillo, were doing nothing more than a “money grab” by letting so many nondescript promotions become part of the storied brand.

As the months continued to roll the NWA continued to progress, not without a misstep or two along the way, but the lack of vision many felt Tharpe had for the NWA started to become more clear. Former WWE Tag Team Champion “Ironman” Rob Conway became the NWA World Heavyweight Champion and soon many were talking about the NWA once again, only without contrast.

Since Conway took over as champion the NWA has become a presence in Japan once again and the NWA World Championship is being defended globally. Conway was often called the “first thing the NWA got right since Tharpe and Ronquillo took over.”

“I’m proud to be the NWA World Champion,” Conway said. “This is an honor, it is still a great tradition and I love representing the NWA.”

Conway, during his reign as NWA Champion, was offered a job in WWE Developmental, where former tag team partner in Ohio Valley Wrestling Nick Dinsmore ended up, and turned them down.

“I am not ready to hang up the tights yet, there is a lot of wrestling I have to do yet, especially as the NWA World Heavyweight Champion.”

Jax Dane and Conway won the NWA World Tag Team Championship in Japan beating champions Lance Archer and Davey Boy Smith Jr. as well as IWGP Tag Team Champions Satoshi Kojima and Hiroyoshi Tenzan. This is the first time in NWA history that a sitting NWA World Champion has also held part of the NWA World Tag Team Championship.

While the NWA has showcased their best talent in a number of “super shows” in Texas their expansion and utilization of their most loyal and longest running members has helped solidify the company. NWA Smoky Mountain (TN), often called the cornerstone of the NWA, NWA World Wide Wrestling (NC), NWA CIW (OH) and NWA Houston (TX) along with upstart NWA Greensboro (NC) have solid talent rosters including some of the best wrestlers on the independent scene.

NWA National Heavyweight Champion Nitro (Phil Monahan) out of NWA CIW is a solid candidate to hold that title, The Lords of K.O.A.S (Damien Wayne/Lance Erickson) are a solid tag team in the hunt for the World Tag Team Championship, NWA Eastern States Champion Lou Marconi who is also part of The Fold with veteran Cueball Carmichael, Pat Cusik and Sean Denny, former NWA Junior Heavyweight Champion Jason Kincaid and current Junior Heavyweight Champion Chase Owens as well as a number of other top talent across the country provides the NWA with a solid foundation.

There are still plans in the making for NWA television as well as continuing plans for more matches involving the NWA World Champions abroad. There are a number of NWA promotions who have local TV or television quality shows available on the internet via website or YouTube and the idea to get the best of the local promotions on a nationally syndicated show is one of the avenues of exposure on the NWA timeline.

Even though the transition from Pro Wrestling Organization LLC, to International Wrestling Organization LLC, was anything but smooth but over time it seems that the National Wrestling Alliance is once again starting to stagger away from the negative stigma and begin to rise back to prominence.

Pearce defended more than anyone else in the modern NWA. Rob Conway Might defend it two or three times a month. Promotions outside of Japan and Texas don't seem that interested in booking him.

So that would mean Pearce was the more valuable NWA Champion at the time of his reign/reigns. This quote is basically saying Conway is somehow a better champion than Adam

"As the months continued to roll the NWA continued to progress, not without a misstep or two along the way, but the lack of vision many felt Tharpe had for the NWA started to become more clear. Former WWE Tag Team Champion “Ironman” Rob Conway became the NWA World Heavyweight Champion and soon many were talking about the NWA once again, only without contrast.

I read it Funny

I think it's the first time The NWA World Heavyweight Championship has been defending in New Japan since the early '90s.

But ever since Bruce Tharpe stripped the title of Pearce it hasn't had the same importance here in The States. The biggest match NWA World Heavyweight Title match I can think of outside Texas and Japan was when Conway defended it against Ricky Morton in Tennessee and he hasn't been booked again there since.
