I don't think so, he seemed to have enough time to get it to his left hand in front of his body and just shift/fall to his left while securing the ball properly.
Aside from that, Geno needs to realize where he is on the field. There were 2 times that game where he kept backing up with no control of his body and little control of the ball, deep back in his own territory.. The other time he got sacked at the 1.
Wasn't all Geno's fault cause the protection was awful many times yesterday, including both of those plays, but I definitely think that was a pretty dumb decision on Geno's part and yet another embarrassing outcome for a Jets QB.
