Fucking brilliant.

The Blackbird (1926)



This was TCM's silent movie of the week. Lon Chaney was a criminal who'd pretended to be his own crippled brother. The gimmick seemed lame compared to Chaney's other get ups. But it must of been a pain in the ass to go around like that. There were several sections of the movie that was boring. The climax was getting good but the ending ended up being weak. There was plenty of good comedy and drama. 6/10.

The 39 Steps (1935)



This was a really thrilling Alfred Hitchcock film. It reminded me a lot of North By Northwest, of course this came first. It's never boring and almost always suspenseful. 10/10.

Apocalypse Now (1979)



Watched the Redux version with my cousin Kitty. I honestly like the scenes but honestly were unnecessary and made this slow paced movie felt way too long. Nothing new added was important to the story. I gave the theatrical version a 10/10 but Redux gets a 9/10.

Jurassic World (2015)



I watched this with my Dad. I really enjoyed this. This is the best movie in the series since the original film. 9/10.

Traffic in Souls (1913)



This was an early feature film. It's kinda boring at points. The highlight for me was the showdown between The Police and The Sex Traffickers. I thought that was gonna be the climax... Well I guess it is but it's not another 10 minutes before the movie actually ends. It would have been better if it was slimmed down. 6/10.

Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House (1948)



I'm a big fan of Carry Grant's. This is a good comedy. Plus there's some drama here and there. 8/10.

Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind

Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (1984)



I watched this with Bob. It was a very fun Studio Ghibli film. This had a big environmental message with nature fighting back humanity.

It was weird watching this with Bob because it looked like Nausicaä wasn't wearing any panties under her skirts I checked and was rated PG. Plus Disney did release this

Great movie. 9/10.

Lassie Come Home (1943)



Bob came over yesterday and we had to update games on my Wii U. So while we waited we watched this on TCM. I love this movie. 8/10.

Charade (1963)



TCM is having a Carry Grant marathon today and I been meaning to watch this film. It's funny to see Grant take on all these different assumed names while poor Regina is stuck trying to find this lost money. This is quite the suspenseful film with a lot of twists and turns. 9/10.

Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb (1964)



This movie is what leads to Fallout in my head cannon. So I decided to watch it with Kitty. This is a classic dark comedy. Peter Sellers was such a great actor. It's really funny to see George C. Scott act like a clown General. Plus there's Slim Pickens. It's been awhile since I seen the film and I forgot Strangelove didn't even enter the film until half way through. I thought he had more air time on a film that was named after him. But it's probably better that way. The movie would be way too goofy if it focused more on him. 10/10.

A Christmas Carol (1938)



I enjoyed this film but I was bugged with how everyone but Ebenezer Scrooge seemed to be having such a great time. In the present Bob does show some distress after Ebenezer canned his ass but it made sense for him to put on a happy face for the family during Christmas dinner. But then in the future after Tiny Tim dies Bob still tries this while his kids hug him and it seems so off. Like he said something really fucked up to me and they could have just left it out and it maybe would have been okay.

Well anyway I enjoy Charles Dickens' Christmas Carol story. This isn't a all time classic but it's certainly worth viewing with the family during the Christmas season. 7/10.

Scrooged (1988)



I thought this was going to be a great movie. I think Bill Murray was a very conniving heel. This movie was missing something. It was funny. I really enjoyed Frank Cross' decent into madness and I really like The Ghost of Christmas Present. And it was hilarious when Eliot Loudermilk came back to try kill Frank. It totally caught me off guard and was funny. A major problem was the ending way way too much. I didn't like Frank yelling for several minutes about how great Christmas is. Best thing I can say it's different enough from A Christmas Carol that I was entertained after basically watching a past movie with the same story. 6/10.

Elf (2003)



There were plenty of moments that I thought were funny. Thing is this is like any other Will Ferrell movie. He plays a ignorant man who was raised as an elf. I did think some moments were heart warming. It was too goofy for me to really enjoy. 6/10.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Easily my favourite movie of the year. Seen it twice now 4/5
Just a few touches that need to be done

Just watched Ant Man. I wasn't overly excited heading into it, but I thought it was great. I don't usually care for action in movies (unless it's some gorey horror film action), but I really enjoyed the action sequences, the comedic moments were great and I actually marked for the Avengers bit, even though I've never seen the Avenger movies. 9/10

Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip (2015)



I wanted to take my cousin to the theater. Of course when he gets there he wants to watch the movie I was the least interested in

And as I expected it was a bad film. My favorite parts were with Air Marshall Suggs and he's not involved in the story as much as he should be.

I don't hate kids movies. You could look at past posts and see there are great films that were made for kids. It's just a bad movie trying to dumb down for kids. And it's unfortunate when filmmakers do that. 3/10.

Night Train to Terror (1985)



The only reason I decided to check this out was because it was TCM's Underground movie of the week. From my experience that's when they air horrible indy movies. This is honestly the worst movie I ever seen.

This movie is attempt to make a buck on combining past movies with unreleased footage to make one film. What we get is this combination of horrible stories, pornographic torture scenes, cheesy effects, horrible transitions, wooden acting, gore, bad editing and the worst '80s music you'll ever hear. This film is really such a sad attempt at a movie I would have sued someone to get my name off it. When one of the directors saw the film he was embarrassed.

So this movie is basically God and Satin on a train together recalling old events, which are past movies condensed into half hour segments to make the anthology film. I never seen any of the films so I can't really say if they butchered them or if they did us a favor shorting them. But obviously they don't do a good job because it feels like each story is going far too quickly. In fact they feel more like trailers for the films. And the effects are so cheesy. I don't know if it's fair to say it's a low budget film because I seen other low budget horror films from the same time and they do fantastic jobs with effects and makeup.

And the acting is so horrible. The best acting is from God and Satin who of course get the least amount of screen time.

And there's cuts to these kids on the train who sing one of the worst '80s pop song you'll ever hear.

The people that put this mess together should feel ashamed. 1/10.

Weekend at Bernie's (1989)



I was just checking out what was on TV when I ran into this. This was really funny. These dudes' boss ends up getting murdered but they pretend he's alive to get some tail. Come to find out he was trying to get them murdered. It's not a classic or anything but it was fun to watch. 7/10.

Jaws 3-D (1983)



Jaws was a classic horror/adventure film. And it's been awhile but I remember enjoying Jaw 2. Jaw 3-D is a different story. The original idea was for Jaws 3 to be a spoof and honestly this could have been hilarious if it was done differently.

The shark from the first movie looked realistic. The same can't be said about this shark. The filmmakers were more interested in 3D effects. That'd be okay but really the story should be a priority. The story is lame. There's a few suspenseful moments but a lot of is lame. And to top it all off they have a lame ending with the survivors celebrating with a dolphin. 3/10.

Jaws: The Revenge (1987)



I don't know who decided this movie would be a good idea. The firs time I watched this movie I wondered where the hell Martin Brody was at. Well he died of a heart attack so his wife takes the role as lead protagonist. Apparently this shark is so pissed off about the two sharks Martin Brody killed about a decade ago that it goes after his family in waters sharks do not go into. This movie doesn't even have good effects. The final scene with the shark and the boat are just ugly. Also the shark makes monster sounds and explodes when it's impaled by the boat, destroying it and the boat. Not surprisingly Michael Caine is the best thing about this movie. 2/10.

In the Line of Fire (1993)



I turned my cable box on and this started playing. It stars Clint Eastwood and it sounded interesting so I checked it out. It's a good good movie. Mitch Leary taunts secret service agent Frank Horrigan, who felt responsible for letting John F. Kennedy die. The last half hour is very suspenseful. I wasn't quite sure what was going to happen in the climax. This is a really good film and worth checking out. 8/10.
