The NFL has suspended New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady four games without pay for his role in deflating footballs for the AFC Championship Game, the league said in a statement Monday.

The Patriots will also lose a first-round pick in 2016 and a fourth-round pick in 2017, and they have been fined $1 million.

Brady will miss the season's showcase kickoff game Sept. 10 against Pittsburgh, Week 2 at Buffalo, a home game against Jacksonville and a game at Dallas. He will return the week the Patriots face the Colts in Indianapolis.

The NFL is all like leave the lying and not cooperating with investigations to us.

If I were Brady, I'd just sue and retire, tbh.

I'm not even a Pats fan, but I researched into this and I honestly believe that the Pats weren't even trying to cheat. I will share my findings later when I'm not at work, if anyone is interested.

It is an NFL problem when you've let QBs and kickers mess with footballs for a while instead of just letting the officials handle them in the first place ... joke league

If this were a court of law, he'd be innocent. Their hasn't been enough evidence to remove reasonable doubt that he didn't know that the balls were being put below league minimum psi. But it's guilty until proven innocent when you're the best...

I'm willing to bet that he had agents or coaches not wanting him to accidentally say something that would be used against him. I guess it's not like anyone takes anything out of context ever though. I don't know how much he legally could say given the fact that an entire organization has something to lose if he slips up. If he said "I'm not guilty." Someone would quote him as saying it and omit the 'not' from it. I'm sure it's been hard on him dealing with the constant shit and not exploding at people asking dumb questions and accusations. Basically everyone in the NFL is defending him anyway and saying it didn't matter. The Pats never won or lost a game because of deflated balls and that's pretty obvious. A year ago no one would have ever thought this would be an issue either. The average person would have said a year ago that the ball's air pressure probably doesn't matter a whole lot but since it's the Patriots, people flip out and act like it's obvious that air pressure means everything in a Superbowl run. At least the refs are going to pay better attention to it, and we'll see if the Pats winning % drops at all after week 4.
