Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest
Nintendo 3DS
2016
Fire Emblem: Conquest is the first Fates game I’ve played, but not the first Fire Emblem game. The story, no matter how mediocre it is, it’s still enjoyable. You take turns commanding separate armies to either kill off the opposing side, or to route them.
In this game, you play as Corrin, a kind-hearted soul who lived with his/her siblings in a giant fort. On return to their kingdom, they were immediately ordered to capture cities of the opposing nation. This prompts you to choose one of three sides.
This game is batshit crazy. I loved the idea of the plot, but the character development is horrid. With each passing mission, Corrin harassed by his father who kidnapped & raised him.
With the game being turn based, you make your way turn by turn anticipating your enemies movement. What I really liked from this game is that there’s no weapon degradation, so you don’t have to replace your weapons every other chapter.
The one thing I do hate about this game is the way you’re introduced to some of your characters. The dialogue is funny, but I can’t get use to the personalities surrounding me in the game. It feels too off to be an army, and too off to be set in a war.
All in all, I did enjoy playing the game, and I’m still trying to beat lunatic mode after all this time. It’s a game I enjoy picking up again no matter how long I’ve finished it.
10/10 just for being Fire Emblem.
