WWE 2K17
Xbox 360
2016
I never wanted to buy a WWE game again. I honestly feel like the series just went downhill after The Road to WrestleMania story mode was dropped in WWE '13. They replaced it with some uninteresting Attitude Era bullshit deal on WWE '13. It felt really lazy. They don't even do that anymore too! I bought the hype for WWE 2K15 but the story mode was just as boring.
But I bought this game because my friend got it and I thought it would be cool if we could play this online together. This game was $40 on Amazon. And like you should expect it doesn't look as nice as the version on current gen consoles.
This is so bare bones it's sad. I just can't give a shit about WWE Universe mode. To me it's just a lame watered down TEW.
There's no story mode.
And we're well over a month into this game's release and there's a few things that are just wrong. Like the announcing is fucked up. I'll just be doing a normal match and Jerry Lawler will talk about all the ladders around the ring... What?
The AI do some goofy things sometimes. They seem good during a match but after I won a TLC match one just started climbing the ladder for no reason after the bell rang.
And the roster page is half full. I don't even know who's missing! It seems like anyone relevant is there. All the main eventers are there. I can play as Rock, Shane and Undertaker right now. So who the fuck is missing? And how do I unlock them? What the fuck? There's no story mode or "arcade" mode I guess? What the fuck. It makes the roster scene look so ugly! And the game doesn't tell me what to do to fix it. It pisses me off!
I honestly look at this game and I think it's a downgrade from PlayStation 2 titles. I was able to play The SmackDown! vs. RAW series for hours and hours in one setting. I play this for 30 minutes or an hour and I'm done.
Maybe you feel different about WWE Universe Mode. If so great for you. Maybe you'll want to pick this up. But I think if you already own a WWE game on The Xbox 360 please don't bother.
The game plays well. I actually enjoy playing a wrestling match more than I did in WWE 2K15 on my Xbox One! But there's nothing really to this game on The 360. I'll give this a
5/10. It's okay but there's nothing to this game that makes it worth buying.
