PROMO | Danny Diamond & Robert Hope - "Tensions Rising"

Returning from a commercial about tampons, the audience is directed to the titantron where two people are seen. These two are Danny Diamond and Skye Sapphire. The audience immediately bursts into cheers at the sight of these two, both dressed casually; Danny with black, faded jeans, black sneaker and his custom Diamonds Are Forever V-Neck; Skye with light blue skinny jeans, blue and white sneakers and a tight white tank top that shows off a bit of cleavage.

|DIAMOND| "Welcome, to Vendetta! Is! Diamond! ... Wait, no, that's not my bit. FINALLY! THE DIAMOND HAS COME BACK! ... No. Oh, sod it. Hey folks. Last week, I took on the World Heavyweight Champion, Hitman Alex. He put up a hell of a fight and showcased exactly why he's the Champion. However, in our third match ever, us being tied one a piece heading into it, I came out victorious, proving definitively that I am better than the best! Unfortunately, I've not been booked to compete tonight."

The audience lets out some jeers at this announcement. Danny nods in agreement.

|DIAMOND| "I know, I know. But it's okay, because in three weeks, you'll get to see me take on Robert Hope. Now, I don't know if Hope will have his little buddies, Cerberus and Azrael, with him. Congratulations on the Tag Team Championships win, by the way. Already putting your leader in the shadows. I like it. But, like I was saying, I don't know if he'll have them with him. That won't change the outcome, though. In the end, it'll be me, Danny Diamond, with my arm raised high above my head whilst the so-called Hall of Famer, the man who claims to be Kanimaniac, will be laid out on the canvas of the ring, the realization setting in that I'm better than him. He can come at me with all of the metaphors that he wants, but when it's all said and done, I'll prove once again that I am - definitively - the best in the--"

Predictably, Robert Hope's theme music interrupts Danny Diamond's speech. The fans in the arena unleash loud, unforgiving boos, as they are about to be blighted with the presence of The Prophet. After a few moments, Hope pushes his way through the curtain, dressed in his trademark tattered clothes, a total antithesis of Danny Diamond. He walks with Cerberus, who is letting one half of the tag team championships trail behind him in his hand. Hope doesn't look like he's here for frivolity, though. He walks with a purpose, pounding the floor with his feet, all the while glaring into the ring at Diamond. He approaches the ring and rolls under the bottom rope, then stands up and snatches the microphone out of Diamond's hand. He tells Cerberus to just stay out of the ring, as he paces back and forth in front of Diamond.

|HOPE| "You know what? I'm really sick of hearing you talk. You say all these things, you make your little accusations, and I'm getting bored of them, in all honesty. You don't seem to realise who the hell you're talking to, and it's really starting to piss me off! I have been uncharacteristically patient so far, and you should thank whatever God you believe in for that."

Hope, still pacing, looks to be getting increasingly irritated, as Diamond stands stoically, watching Hope pace, and resting his arm around the shoulders of Skye Sapphire.

|HOPE| If you don't believe in a God...you'd better find one, and quick. Hey, I've never been one for following any of that, but maybe it'll be of some comfort to you after what I do at Rev Wars. I've heard hospital wards get awful lonely, and I bet that sewer rat of yours won't be at your side.

Danny steps forward, but Sapphire clings to his arm, shaking her head at Hope. The Prophet stands still, and locks Diamond in a cold gaze, feeling that he has struck a chord. He slowly walks towards Diamond, as Skye stands in front of her boyfriend.

|HOPE| "...I give her half an hour after our match until she's knocking on my door, after watching you get damn near crippled by me. And sure, I'll throw her a bone, then I'll throw her worthless, plastic behind out onto the street."

Diamond looks to be barely holding back his anger at Hope's cheap shots, his girlfriend pushing against his chest with all her strength. Hope smiles a sickening grin, and cocks his head to the side, while pointing at Cerberus.

|HOPE| "Or maybe I'll give her to Cerberus. He's--"

Danny suddenly bats the microphone out of Hope's hand, and Sapphire wraps her arms around his waist, stopping him from reaching Hope and beating him senseless. Hope chuckles slightly, looking down at the microphone, then shaking his head. He then clicks his fingers towards Cerberus, who grabs the ropes and steps into the ring. The imposing frame of Cerberus causes both Skye and Danny to back up a little bit, cautious of the monster. He stands behind Hope, adjusting his glove. Robert reaches down to pick up the microphone.

|HOPE| "Diamond, you keep chasing this idea that I'm some sort of liar. That kind of talk will get you hurt. Badly. It's lucky that I'm not in the mood to hang you right here with your girlfriend, but rest assured...if you keep pushing me, I'm going to decide to forget about being patient. Remember what I did to Michaels? I don't think you want any of that. Especially not for your girlfriend. Especially not with your son relying on you. No, you wouldn't want that. So, let me tell you this: Rev Wars is in a couple of weeks. I'd like you to be 100% for when I spill your blood all over that ring and make an example of you, just like I did Michaels. The thing is, your mouth might put you in trouble before that. Please...don't ruin my fun at the Pay Per View."

Hope drops the microphone, keeping a cold stare locked with Diamond. The camera pans out to show all four people standing on either side of the ring, Sapphire cowering from Cerberus in front of Diamond. Danny hugs her close to him, resting his hand reassuringly on the back of her head. The screen fades to black.

Good promo, but found a little continuity error.

Then later, they're in the ring and interrupted by Hope.

Still a cool promo, though. The tension isn't as building up as quick as I expected, but this usually means the climax will be amazing.

Yeah, I'm not sure why Kani continued with him interrupting Danny in the ring. Funny

My bad. I fell asleep before I could finish this off, and I completely forgot that it was on the titantron. Funny

I honestly didn't even notice the continuity error. It aside, this was a great promo. I don't think Hope realizes he's dealing with one of the most arrogant loudmouths in the biz. Razz

But I'm enjoying the banter back and forth between these two, and the form it's taking. It's hard for two guys to keep promoing off of each other sometimes and not get stale/predictable. You guys are doing a great job of keeping it fresh for me. Smile
