The show returns from the obligatory commercial break where we are set for main event action here in Albuquerque, New Mexico! Last week Tyler Lawson dropped a bomb shell when he revealed that he would be facing his long time foes, David Michaels and JHalc, in a tag match with a partner of his choosing. The crowd went wild, and not mild, for the return of Evan Flare who has not been seen since XWA's Pay Per View offering of Endure. These four men have a well documented history, with JHalc and Flare being former Death Sentence tag team partners, only for Lawson and Flare to rip that prestigious name from under him. It's a tag match. It has four of the best. It should be a war. It starts right now!
Cedar: "And welcome back to Vendetta ladies and gentlemen, where we are set for a blockbuster of a main event - David Michaels, JHalc, Lawson, Flare. Tag Team action for the very first time! And as you can see, D-Volution is making their way to the ring while Lawson and Flare await calmly for the duo."
Dennis: "Let it be known right now, I hate all four of these men and I fully expect this show's ratings to take it's largest nose dive in five years! What the hell was Razor Xtreme thinking in booking this crap?!"
Cedar: "Oh stop it, this is set to be a great contest. So much history and bad blood between all four men. It's going to be an interesting dynamic."
Dennis: "It's about as interesting as your last colonic appointment...just look as these two fools making their way to the ring. The most redeeming features they have are bounding up and down on Nova's ch..."
Cedar: "For once, stop thinking about breasts..."
D-Volution's entrance theme of "Sleep Now In The Fire" by RATM has been playing in the background since the show returned, with Michaels, JHalc and Nova all making their way down the entrance ramp. The three look to be a little more serious than they have been in recent times, knowing this is a threat they is rather personal and all too familiar. These four men have faced one another countless times, except for JHalc and Flare, but their history is rooted back to a well known tag team that Flare and Lawson have claimed as their own. Michaels and JHalc climb into the ring, no song and dance. JHalc takes off his fedora and places it on the ring post behind the turnbuckle of their corner, while Michaels takes off his entrance gear before handing the XWA World Heavyweight Championship to the referee. Lawson and Flare are stood in the opposite corner, talking tactics. As their entrance theme dies away, Michaels and JHalc bump their fists together before Michaels points at Lawson and climbs onto the apron. It appears JHalc and Tyler Lawson will start this match.
DING...DING...DING!!!
Cedar: "And here we go! The bell sounds and tonight's main event is officially under way! It look like Tyler Lawson will start this match against the man he has never beaten before."
Dennis: "How many attempts has he had now? About 16 million?"
Cedar: "Not quite, Adam..."
Dennis: "Might as well be. Even I'll admit Lawson sucks when it comes to defeating JHalc."
The Instant Classic, who has been on a roll in recent weeks it has to be said, walks towards the centre of the ring stretching his neck out, while JHalc checks on the bulkier than usual right knee brace from the punishment he has taken in the last few weeks. Jay steps up to the center, before making eye contact with his long time opponent. JHalc walks forwards and begins to smile at Tyler, laugh even, knowing he has had this man's number more than anybody else in history. JHalc turns back to Michaels and laughs some more, only to turn back round a final time and receive the hardest slap to the face you can imagine! The crowd, which is completely split between the two teams, gives off a mixed reaction that is siding more on the cheers as The Jack of Hearts stumbles backwards holding his face. Lawson then quickly follows it up with a right fist, followed by a second, rocking JHalc right off the bat here. JHalc stumbles to a corner free of XWA Superstars, as he's rocked with a third right hand by Lawson. The King of Xtreme winner grabs hold of his arm and whips him across the ring. JHalc smacks into corner hard, bouncing out right into Lawson' clutches. Lawson locks his hands around his waist a pops his hips, flinging JHalc over his head and to the mat with a nice Belly-to-Belly Suplex! The crowd pops, as Jay doesn't know what has just hit him! The number one contender for the Intercontinental Title rushes back up to his feet, only to wander right into Lawson's grasp again before a second Belly-to-Belly Suplex! From the apron Evan claps Lawson on, as JHalc gets up again and wildly swings a left arm looking for a Clothesline. It plainly misses it's target, with Tyler ducking under it and latching onto him from behind, lifting him up and slamming him back down with a Belly-to-Back Suplex this time! The Lawson fans roar, as he goes for the cover, but falls just short of grabbing his long time rival as JHalc manages to roll out of the ring.
Cedar: "And the crowd erupts for Tyler Lawson, as JHalc sure as hell wasn't expecting that!"
Dennis: "Can't deny it...the Butt Pirate knows how to suplex people!"
David Michaels hops down from the ring apron, as JHalc stands on the outside looking rather dazed. Before Michaels can even make it over to him, JHalc dramatically falls down to the floor on his face. Michaels kneels down next to him, checking on his partner, before standing back up and looking irate at Lawson who just stands in the middle of the ring with his hands on his hips. Flare is then seen face palming himself, holding laughter back, as his former tag team partner didn't look too pretty then. Michaels yells at the ref to get Lawson back, which he does, but Lawson decides to challenge him. The Instant Classic does the insult of all insults to Michaels - the crotch chop! Michaels eyes widen, almost about to pop out in anger, as the crowd are loving this match already!
Cedar: "Oh my!"
Dennis: "One does not simply crotch chop David Michaels. That's like...blasphemy!"
Not thinking at all, Michaels darts into the ring and charges at Lawson, who dodges out of the way. Michaels continues to shoot across the ring as Evan Flare grabs the top rope from the apron and pulls it right down. The XWA World Heavyweight Champion makes an utter ass of himself, as he goes flying over the ropes and out of the ring, colliding into the announce table! The ref begins to belittle Flare, who is too busy shouting at Michaels from the apron. Meanwhile, Lawson is stood behind the ref watching on in delight when he is suddenly held onto by the ankles and forced to the mat. JHalc is now back up and drags him out of the ring deciding to return those left fists from a few minutes earlier. He punches him very hard, but Lawson fights back with fists of his own. JHalc, being the crafty son of a gun, knows this man only too well and wins the battle with a stiff kick to the right, braced up knee - Tyler Lawson has had problems with it that mirror JHalc’s own, and the Jack of Hearts intends to exploit this weakness. As Lawson hobbles on it, JHalc grabs him by the head and just tosses him knees first into the steel steps! The thud is heard all around the arena, as the two rings step segments detach from one another and Lawson goes flying over them, landing on his back with authority. The ref, for once in his career, actually hears the collision and turns around. He sees Lawson on the floor in agony, while JHalc is now leaning on the apron taking a breather before rolling back into the ring.
Cedar: "Well if JHalc wasn't expecting those Suplexes, Lawson sure as hell wasn't expecting that!"
Dennis: "...anddddd this is why Lawson has never beaten JHalc. The guy knows Lawson better than he does himself!"
JHalc proclaims his innocence to the ref, before Flare enters the ring yelling at JHalc. Jay just smiles at him, before turning around and reaching through the ropes, dragging Lawson back in by his arms. Once back in, JHalc quickly picks him back up and holds onto the right leg, lifting him by his side and then dropping it straight across his own knee with a Shin Breaker. Lawson falls to the mat, JHalc quickly hooking the far leg.
1.. 2... Kick out!
Lawson shoves JHalc off, as Michaels has since recovered and is just making his way back to his corner. JHalc gets back up to his feet, checking on his cheek that he was slapped on, before pulling Lawson up to his feet. The King of Xtreme Winner pushes himself from JHalc, but the space created between the two works to Jay’s advantage. The smaller man issues his rival a similar slap across the face that he absorbed earlier and as Lawson’s hands move instinctively towards his face JHalc quickly latches onto him and Scoop Slams him down to the mat. Already knowing his next move by the time Lawson hits the mat the #1 contender to the Intercontinental Championship walks backwards to the ropes, bouncing off them and jumping up into the air, before dropping down with a elbow drop straight to Lawson's hurting right leg. JHalc then gets into a seated position, holds onto the leg and then reaches back, tagging Michaels into the mat. As he does, Lawson kicks JHalc in the chest and gets free off the grip, managing to quickly get up and scramble back towards his corner, where he tags in Evan Flare. The Franchise looks across the ring as he is tagged and begins to smile, seeing Michaels standing there waiting for him. Flare slowly enters the ring and begins cracking his hands, relishing the potential of this moment.
Cedar: "Well this should be interesting. Since Michaels returned to the XWA a few months back, Evan Flare has been the only man to actually defeat him. Many have credited Flare's victory as to why Michaels suddenly stop being so 'happy go lucky' all the time."
Dennis: "So you're saying Michaels is World Champion because of Flare's giant head of hair?!"
Cedar: "...what? How in the hell did you deduce that?!"
Dennis: "Genius. That's how."
The two embittered, long time enemies walk into the middle of the ring. Flare's smile slowly gets dropped, as the they both start to talk smack to the other. The talking doesn't last very long, as Michaels launches the first shot. Flare replies with a right hand, followed by a Michaels right and then a Flare left. The two men trade blows until it is Michaels that gets the upper hand, literally, and punches him back to the ropes. Michaels whips him off, Flare reversing it. Michaels rebounds off the ropes, running back towards Flare. Michaels ducks the Clothesline attempt, bouncing off the ropes again, before ducking under a Back Elbow from Flare. The XWA World Heavyweight Champion rebounds off the ropes yet again and flies in towards Flare, looking for a Flying Forearm Smash...but he is caught in mid air, reversed by Flare into a sudden Snap Powerslam. Flare quickly hooks the far leg.
1... 2.... Kick out!
Michaels pushes out of the pinning predicament as hard as he can, getting back to his feet. Flare also gets back up and clobbers Michaels in the head with a Forearm. He whips him over to the corner, where he hits the turnbuckles hard. Flare then darts in, looking for a Splash, but The Showstealer quickly turns to his side and Elbows him in the face. Evan stumbles backwards, holding his jaw, allowing Michaels a few moments to reach back and pull himself up to the second rope. Michaels then leaps off with a Missile Dropkick, jolting Evan Flare backwards across the ring, rolling over falling into the ropes. Michaels then gets back to his feet and unexpected charges across the ring, nailing an already hurting Lawson with a Dropkick too! The D-Volution fans cheer, as Michaels gets back up and looks down at Lawson holding his leg on the floor. Eventually, he returns his attention to Evan Flare and walks across the ring to his position. He grabs a chunk of his afro and pulls him him, stomping him in the gut, before dropping down to one knee and delivering a Snapmare. Michaels then quickly gets up and sends his right foot directly into his spine, before walking backwards and tagging JHalc in. Nova applauds her team on the outside, as they appear to be getting their groove in this match...finally!
Cedar: "Well this should be interesting, former team mates are finally about to square off after four years in the business together."
Dennis: "Moron versus moron. What a classic!"
Cedar: "Would you stop?"
Dennis: "...uhmmm...no!"
JHalc slaps the outreached hand of his partner and slowly climbs into the ring. Michaels twists Flare round onto his feet and brings him over to the ropes. JHalc joins them and the pair whip Evan across the ring. He rebounds back in, as Michaels and JHalc leans over before grabbing Flare by the legs and launching up high into the air. Evan Flare goes flying over himself and lands back first in the centre of the ring via a Back Body Drop. The referee informs Michaels to get out of the ring, as the Jack of Hearts drops to his knees and hooks the far leg.
1... 2.... Kick out!
Flare pushes JHalc off and the pair get back to their feet, standing face to face, alone in the ring, for the very first time. The Franchise throws up his arms, calling for a tie-up test of strength and the Jack of Hearts reluctantly moves forward. Just as the two are about to lock up, JHalc ducks his former partner’s arms and sprints past him, baseball sliding outside the ring. The referee moves to the ropes to question him and Flare stands in the middle of the ring with a smile on his face. David yells at his partner from the apron and Jay just shakes his head “no” seeming afraid to actually face off against Flare. The afro’d superstar isn’t about to wait for his former partner to work through whatever issues he has, as he runs and slides out of the ring towards him. JHalc sees Evan coming and immediately takes off around the other side of the ring, passing David Michaels in the corner and then sliding into the ring on his team’s side. Evan Flare gives chase and follows in turn, but as he rises to his feet he finds JHalc throwing a few heavy left handed shots that rock The Franchise back on his heels. The number one contender for the Intercontinental Championship then kicks his former partner in the gut and wraps his left arm around Flare's head, pops his hips and lifts him up for a Suplex. Flare is slammed down squarely in the middle of the ring, his back starting to take some decent shots here. JHalc floats over into the Lateral Press.
1... 2.... Kick out!
Jay looks at the ref, wondering if he can even count to three. He doesn't waste time arguing with him, however, and simply grabs a hold of Flare's hair, dragging him up to his feet. Whipping him across the ring, Evan Flare rebounds off the ropes. Rather foolishly, JHalc decides another Back Body Drop is in order which allows Flare his opening, kicking him in the face with his right boot! Flare's fans cheer, as JHalc stumbles backwards several feet holding the nose on his already damaged. He turns around and gets clobbered with a Clothesline from Flare, which is packed with extra force just for good measure. JHalc thuds to the mat, as Flare gets back up stalking his opponent. Flare holds his arms ready, begging Jay to get back up and the Jack of Hearts doesn’t disappoint him by rushing in. The San Diego superstar gets doubled over with a kick to the gut by Flare who then latches onto his head with his left arm. Flare takes a taunting look over at David Michaels on the apron before he drops Jay down to the mat, face first, with a DDT! The agitated David isn’t going to just stand and watch though. The fans cheer, as Flare hooks the far leg, and The Showstealer steps between the ropes.
1... 2.... Michaels breaks it up!
JHalc's partner scrambles across the ring and ends the count by sending his right fist into the back of Flare. The pair get to their feet and Michaels attempts to get in a few shots, but the referee pushes him back. Michaels refuses to get back out of the ring, as Flare informs him with his middle finger what he thinks of the XWA World Heavyweight Champion. This irritates Michaels even further, as he battles to get beyond the ref's clutches. Tyler Lawson then quickly, and sneakily, gets into the ring and he pulls JHalc up with Flare. The two newly reformed Death Sentence members holds their arms around JHalc's head, before lifting him high into the air. The crowd expect them to drop him down spine first with a Suplex. Instead, they give off a large "OHHHH!" as the pair drops JHalc right on his head with a sickening Double Brainbuster! With the ref's back still turned, Lawson climbs back out of the ring as his partner reaches over for the hook of the leg. Flare yells at the ref, eventually getting his attention as Michaels heads back onto the apron.
1.... 2..... Shoulder up!
Cedar: "A Double Brainbuster! JHalc's head must be scrambled right about now!"
Dennis: "Well he was already crazier than a racoon on crack, so now he'll be even worse!"
As JHalc attempts to sit up, Flare elegantly transitions from the pinning hold to a tightly applied Side Headlock, while on one knee, to the Jack of Hearts. The crowd are giving off that typically split reaction at the moment, as all four men in this matches are very well liked and supported for various reasons. It is D-Volution's fans, however, that are getting the brunt of this vocal war and are cheering JHalc to get back up. Michaels is stomping his foot on the ring apron, reaching his left hand out as far as it can encouraging the tag to be made. Flare squeezes the head of JHalc as hard as he can, as JHalc slowly attempts to get to his feet. As Jay delivers a couple of elbow shots to his former friend’s ribs as he gets up to one knee. Evan quickly turns the Side Headlock in a Front Face Lock and positions himself between JHalc and his corner. Flare makes sure his footing provides him with optimal grip, to ensure a tag will not be made. JHalc pushes himself up to both feet and begins punching Flare in his right side, attempting to loosen the grip. Flare merely yanks at the head, applying a ridiculous amount of pressure to it. Michaels is standing on the bottom rope, leaning into the ring as far as he can reaching his hand out for the tag. JHalc lifts Flare up and pushes him forwards several feet, now just inches away from the tag. However, Evan’s quick thinking is faster than the Jack of Hearts movement towards the corner. The Franchise unplants his left foot and kicks forward to Jay’s injured right knee, sending the smaller man down to his knees on the mat, but drawing a boo from those loyal to D-Volution. Michaels climbs up to the second rope, and leans over, trying to grab at Flare’s afro, but he still finds himself coming up short. He has little need to worry though, as Flare moves forward and reapplies the front facelock just long enough to spike Jay to the mat with a wicked snap DDT. Evan turns his former partner over and turns so that he can look up at Michaels during his pin attempt.
1…. 2…. Kickout!
Cedar: "Evan Flare is clearly in control of the matchup and is showing virtually no ring rust."
Dennis: "The man was only gone for a month, not a decade you idiot."
Evan turns from David as Jay kicks out of the pin, his attention on The Showstealer was probably the only thing keeping him from breaking up the pin. As he gets up to his feet Evan reaches down and helps JHalc up by way of a handful of his hair. The Jack of Hearts doesn’t resist, and finds himself effortlessly lifted back into a front facelock position. Evan backpedals from the D-Volution half of the ring, before hooking up Jay’s arm and attempting to lift the smaller man into the air. JHalc barely comes off the ground, but as Flare moves to drop him back to the mat, Jay lets his legs fall out from under him, and drags The Franchise down into a seated jawbreaker. The fans celebrate the signs of life from the man that used to call himself The Main Event, but his offense only creates more problems for himself. Evan snaps upwards from the move, holding his jaw, but stumbles back only to be tagged blindly by his partner and #1 Contender to the World Championship, Tyler Lawson. Evan falls back against the turnbuckle, out of the way, as Lawson makes a beeline straight to JHalc. His long time rival is in a seated position on the mat and doesn’t see the kick to his chest coming until after it has knocked the wind out of him. The kick sends JHalc onto his back, which is exactly where Lawson wanted him to be. Evan exposed Jay’s weak knee with the kick, and Tyler was just the man to go to work on it. He reaches down, and grabs JHalc’s right leg, straightening it completely before sending a harsh kick straight to the back of the knee. Jay reaches up in pain, but cannot shake himself free of his opponent’s grip before absorbing a second kick that sends pain shooting all the way through his leg and up to his hip. Lawson thinks to attempt a third, but instead hooks Jay’s ankle under his left arm and throws himself back to the mat. Jay tries to fight loose, but Tyler grapevines his trapped leg and wrenches it to the side, locking in the kneebar.
Cedar: "Tyler is going to tear his leg off if he has his way!"
Dennis: "Now this is more like it!"
JHalc tries to sit up and uncross the legs of the man holding him captive. He twists Tyler’s ankle, trying to pull it away, but Lawson relents just long enough to free his foot and send another hard kick to his enemies chest that sends him back to the mat. Tyler once again crosses his feet and leans back, nearly dislocating the Jack of Hearts’ knee. David Michaels is done watching his partner writhe in pain though, he steps through the ropes and before the referee can stop him he leaps and drops an elbow into the heart of the man seeking to take his title at Xtrememania. Evan Flare isn’t about to let the match break down without his involvement though. He comes through the ropes just as David gets up to his feet and levels him with a clothesline. JHalc rolls away from the group of bodies, clutching at his knee as the referee tries to get some kind of control of the match. He steps between David and Evan as The Showstealer makes his way back to a vertical base. Tyler hops up and calls off his partner, pointing back that their corner, and leaving the referee to deal with the sexy half of D-Volution. JHalc lifts himself with the help of the ropes as Evan Flare steps back to his position outside the ring. There is no time for a breather though. Tyler Lawson reaches out and grabs JHalc, only to whip him towards the Death Sentence corner. The Butt Pirate tags in his partner, and sends one final kick to the right knee before stepping out onto the apron. Evan comes in and is just as relentless. He grips his former partner by the wrist to whip him, but refuses to let go of the grip. JHalc turns back to face him, and The Franchise hits the mat, hooking Jay’s ankle and tripping him face first into the middle turnbuckle pad. More importantly, his injured knee hits the mat hard under his full body weight. Evan makes his way back up and plays to the fans, who immediately get behind him.
Cedar: "JHalc has been taking a lot of punishment on that right leg in recent weeks."
Dennis: "I would hope someone would finally just take him out."
Evan stands behind Jay as he tries to get back to his feet. He reaches up and grabs the top turnbuckle. The referee steps close to the ropes and Tyler Lawson raises his hands in innocence. Jay gets his left leg planted on the mat, and tries to put weight on his right, only to think better of it as not even the knee brace is enough to keep it from buckling. He turns, right into the waiting arms of Evan Flare and a hard right hand. Jay reels, his back even coming in contact with the Death Sentence turnbuckles but in a shock to everyone in the arena, he comes back, taking two quick steps out of the corner and leaping into the air onto Flare, who catches him around the waist. Jay reaches out, still more than half the ring away from being able to make the tag, but at least signals his attention to an irritated David Michaels in his corner. The Showstealer shows some signs of life, stomping his boot in the corner and willing his partner across the ring. Evan surges forward and slams Jay back into the corner once again, drawing boos from the fans that want to see the world champion get back into the action. Flare takes a couple steps back, and then charges into the corner, looking for a big splash, but JHalc ducks and hits the mat. Flare does, however, make contact with his partner, knocking Tyler Lawson off of the apron after a head to head connection. Evan reels back, but has the presence of mind to look for his opponent. JHalc is scampering across the ring to his partner, but Flare isn’t willing to give up so easily. He darts to the Jack of Hearts and drops an elbow on the back of his neck that flattens him to the mat. The Franchise shakes his head, trying to get himself collected as he reaches down and pulls Jay up into a front face lock. Flare puts on as much grip as he can. Out of options, JHalc yanks himself backwards away from his corner and catches Flare by surprise. The Franchise stumbles forward, not relenting in his grip, but JHalc hooks his arms around the back of the bigger man’s legs and pulls as hard as he can. Evan falls backwards from the double leg takedown and JHalc pops his head loose before he is carried down to the mat as well. With Flare in a precarious position, Jay keeps hold of his legs and flips forward overtop of him for a bridge like pinning attempt.
1.... 2..... Hard kickout from Flare!
Cedar: "JHalc surprised him with that pin attempt!"
Dennis: "...but he is clearly scared of Flare, hence the running around the ring like a scared little girl."
The force of Evan’s kick out sends Jay exactly where Evan didn’t want him to go, that being right into the outstretched hand of David Michaels for the tag. David steps through the ropes as Jay rolls under the bottom rope on the other side of their corner. Flare stumbles up to his feet, his back slowly taking many bumps, and not realizing a tag has been made. Michaels shoots across the ring and bounces off the ropes, rebounding back it to the recovering Flare and surprising him with a Clothesline that flips him inside out before he falls onto his side in the center of the ring. Evan tries to push himself off the mat before David can stay on offense, but catches a boot to his unprotected ribs as he gets to all fours. The Franchise flips over onto his back and the World Champion stays right on top of him by sending his boot down hard right into Flare’s chest. Lawson starts to scream and slam his fist against the top turnbuckle of Death Sentence’s corner to cheer on his teammate, but only succeeds in getting his Xtrememania opponent’s attention. David turns towards him with a smile on his face and sends a crotch chop in his direction. Just as the taunt did earlier to David, it sends Tyler into a rage, and he tries to come through the ropes and into the ring, only to be cut off by the referee. Laughing at Lawson, David turns around to get back to business at hand, but Flare has had time to recover and lures the champ right into an inside cradle. Tyler points to the pin and the referee turns from him and slides into position to count the fall.
1…. 2…. Kickout from Michaels!
Cedar: "The champ took his eye off the ball and it almost cost him there."
Dennis: "All of these idiots are too wrapped up in personal grudges to pay attention to the match."
Cedar: ".... said the pot to the kettle..."
David gets back to his feet at the same time that Flare finally finds his vertical base as well. The two turn towards each other, sending identical right hands that hit at the same time and cause the two to snap back away from each other. They come back to face each other with David throwing the first punch this time, only to have it blocked by the left arm of The Franchise. Evan fires back with a right hand that again rocks David back on his heels. The Showstealer is on the defensive now, as another shot backs him up to the ropes. David rebounds, and Evan spins on his right foot before dropping his opponent to the mat with Spinning Back Fist that sends a cracking sound through the arena from the impact. Flare reaches down and grabs the World Champion by the hair and starts to lift him up before propelling him towards his team’s corner where Tyler Lawson is more than happy to tag himself in. Evan steps through the ropes and out to the apron, making the clean switch for Tyler Lawson to take over and the number one contender takes no time at all to go to work on Michaels, by sending an elbow to his temple that rocks him back in the corner.
Cedar: "Tyler Lawson is in control of the champ and has got to feel good about his team’s chances."
Dennis: "I am sure he will find some way to botch it all up."
Tyler reaches out for David’s wrist and turns as he whips him across the ring, as not to send him anywhere close to his own corner. David hits the ropes and rebounds right into a charging Lawson who drops him with a clothesline. The Showstealer hits the mat, and immediately rolls to his stomach and pushes off of the mat. He starts to get up only for the man seeking his title to leap up and catch him in the side of the head with an Enziguri that makes the crowd go wild with cheers for his team. Tyler looks out to the crowd and backs up into the corner, raising his arm and motioning for David to rise up. The Champion is facing away from him, trying to shake the cobwebs out of his head enough to get his feet under him. JHalc has finally gotten back up to his feet and in leaning on the turnbuckle in their corner, finally seeing what his partner is about to run right into. He screams out to David as he gets to his feet, which only causes The Showstealer to turn in his direction. Tyler surges forwards from the corner and blindsides the Champion with a Spear that cuts him in half. Tyler immediately pops up from the move with the crowd now completely in his corner. He takes his attention away from Michaels for just a moment, taking the time to send a right hand that levels JHalc on the apron. Tyler turns back to the downed man in the ring and throws himself over him for the cover.
1…. 2…. Shoulder Up!
Cedar: "The number one contender is showing some real ring presence by taking out JHalc before trying for a pin."
Dennis: "Yea… who knew The Butt Pirate had common sense."
Tyler sits up and drags David with him as he stands. Lawson slaps on a front facelock while David is still trying to get his bearings, and then backs towards his corner where Flare is awaiting the tag. He reaches out and slaps the back of his partner, and Tyler hooks David’s arm, exposing his ribs for a well placed boot from Evan as he steps through the ropes and back into the ring. David stumbles away but Evan follows closely, dropping an elbow on the back of his prey’s head. The World Champion tries to flee towards the ropes as to get a breather to recover but Evan sprints past him, and rebounds off the ropes before hitting him with a Back Elbow that knocks him to his back on the mat. Evan looks around, plotting his next move and finds the turnbuckle almost within arm’s reach. The crowd pops, knowing what The Franchise is planning. Evan steps out to the apron and starts to mount the turnbuckle as his former partner finally starts to get back up in his own corner with the help of the ropes. Flare gets to the top, and balances on top of the turnbuckle before leaping off. He descends towards Michaels with his feet together, but at the last possible second David rolls out of the way of the Southern Arrow Double Foot Stomp. Flare seems to land awkwardly on the knee, and David is allowed to escape. The Showstealer reaches out to his partner and makes the tag. JHalc doesn’t even wait for his compatriot to get out of the ring before lifting himself up with the ropes and springboarding off the top, looking to nail Flare with his signature flying elbow smash. The Jack of Hearts’ right knee gives out as he springboards and he comes awkwardly off the top rope though and instead of getting the big air needed to bring his arm down, he simply crashes into his former tag team partner head to head.
Cedar: "WHAT A COLLISION!"
Dennis: "JHalc didn’t quite get off the rope right at the result is disastrous."
The crowd are almost breathless looking for some kind of movement from either man, as both JHalc and Flare lay in the centre of the ring each breathing heavily after that collision. The ref checks on both men, before beginning his mandatory count. Lawson is standing on the bottom rope, leaning as far as he can into the ring and screaming encouragement his tag partner, desperate to attract his attention and urge him on for the tag. Michaels is still down on the apron, unable to do the same for his partner. The ref's count is at five and JHalc is the first to begin showing signs of life, holding his left arm up in the air. As the ref yells out six, he slowly reaches the raised arm over and drops it across Flare's chest, making the cover.
1......... 2.......... Lawson rushes in to break it up!
Tyler Lawson leaps across from the corner and Axe Handle Smashes Jay in the back of the head, preventing the potential three count. David is starting to push himself up on the apron and Lawson turns his attention to him. He reaches over the top rope and lifts the smaller man to his feet before locking on a front facelock. Tyler hooks David’s arm around his neck and then lifts him up into the air, looking to suplex him back into the ring. However, in the air, The Showstealer wiggles free in midair, and gets his feet under him, landing on sure footing behind Tyler. The #1 contender for his title turns to face him, and David reaches forward and takes him by the wrist, whipping him across the ring. Michaels instantly reacts as Tyler rebounds, charging across the ring and leaping onto Lawson with a Lou Thez Press! The crowd are really split now, as the XtremeMania opponents begin to brawl like their lives depended upon it. Rights and lefts from Michaels aimed directly into the skull of Lawson, who then, in turn, manages to turn the press over and unleash fists of his own into Michaels' skull. The ref attempts to gain some sort of order, but it's very little use, as both men continue to roll around brawling. JHalc and Flare continue to lay on the mat, trying to recover, as their tag partners fall out of the ring onto the floor STILL pummelling the holy hell out of one another. Both men get up and until trading the blows, before Lawson knees David in the gut and then smashes his head off the ring apron and then straight off the announce table. Michaels stumbles backwards, Lawson staring at him in fury. But Michaels looks up and his face goes into that of rage, before he shoots forwards and Spear Tackles The Instant Classic straight onto, and over, the announce table!

Cedar: "Look out!"
Dennis: "...what th---dammit!"
Cedar: "The referee has lost complete control here...Michaels and Lawson are trying to kill one another...stop this!"
Dennis: "They knocked over my cola!"
Cedar: "No one cares about your damn cola...this is a war!"
Dennis: "AH! Get away from me..."
Both Dennis and Cedar are standing up either side of the announce table, leaning over a tad as their headset cables won't go any further. The ref is yelling in the ring for them to stop, but his attention has to soon go back on JHalc and Flare, who are now both back up to their feet and having their own personal battle. JHalc is looking the better off of the two, as he shoves Flare back into the corner and begins stomping away at his former partner. On the outside, Michaels has seemingly got the upper hand and is stood up behind the announce table stomping at the fallen Tyler Lawson. JHalc whips Flare across the ring. It's reversed and JHalc is sent shooting across instead. As he comes to the opposite corner, he reaches out and grabs the ropes, jumping up in the air look to float over the running Flare. But it's well scouted by the former Cruiser-X Champion, as he stops right under JHalc, turns and grabs his legs around his shoulder. He latches onto them and then pulls on them, hard, slamming JHalc down spine first with a vicious Alabama Slam! The whip lash hurts JHalc's upper spine and neck, as he instantly clutches onto it after impact. Flare collapses in the corner to a seated position and takes an unwanted breather. On the outside, meanwhile, Michaels has been continuing to kick and punch his bitter rival. Lawson has been slowly pulling himself up, using the announce table, as Michaels lays some typical trash talk on him. Suddenly, he reaches over and snatches the headset off of Ted Cedar's head, placing on his own, as he punches Lawson in the jaw once more.
Cedar: "..Michaels is all over Law--argh!"
Dennis: "Wait!"
Michaels: "THIS THING ON! Shut up Dennis, you jackass..."
Dennis: "...I didn--"
Michaels: "DID I STUTTER?! What you all see here, is the worthless piece of crap that thinks...hold on...OOOPPPHHHH (punch to Lawson)...that thinks he can beat me at...OOOOPPPPHHH (another punch to Lawson)...at XtremeMania."
Dennis: "...well he's done it before."
Michaels: "SHHHUT UP! He can't beat me and he never will again! Here, you look a little hot. HAVE A COOL DOWN!"
Dennis: "DAMMIT!"
Michaels proceeds to opening up a bottle of water that was on the announce table, takes a quick gulp before spitting it all in the face of Lawson. The crowd can see this is getting rather personal as they watch. Michaels then lobs the open bottle of water at Dennis, as he has been sick of this man dragging his name through the mud for months. Michaels then takes Lawson' now drenched head ans smashes it into the announce table, before leaning over and getting right in his face and he pushes his head painfully into the top of the table.
Michaels: "NOVA! NOVA! Pass me the belt...GET THE BELT!"
Dennis: "Would you stop this?! Cedar, get your damn headset back on!"
Michaels: "I SAID SHUT UP! You want this, Lawson? You want this title? You want to be the World Champion?!"
Michaels begins to rub the XWA World Heavyweight Championship in Lawson's pain ridden face, grinding it against his forehead in furry.
Michaels: "THIS IS MINE! YOU'LL NEVER HAVE IT! YOU'LL NEVER BE WORLD CHAMPION! YOU ARE NOTHING TO ME!"
Dennis: "This is ridiculous...you're going too fare here..."
Michaels: "SHUT UP DAMMIT! I'LL KNOCK YOUR TEETH OUT RIGH--ARGHHHH!"
As Michaels turns his attention to Dennis and was about to smack him in the jaw, Michaels is clubbed from behind by Evan Flare who saw the commotion from inside the ring and decided to end it. Michaels trips over the kneeling body of Lawson, as he headset goes flying. Flare follows him and cracks him in the back of the head with another right hand again. The ref is now on the outside trying to get the control back in this match, but that is long gone. Michaels turns around and attempts to hit Flare back, but it's easily blocked and Flare thumps him once again. He then latches onto his head and tosses him into the time keeper's area. Everything goes flying. The little table keeping the mics and bell on is broken into several pieces, as the mics falls to the floor and create a large thudding noise. Steel chairs go crashing into each other, as Laura Watts and several other workers leap for cover. Michaels slams into the small, curved barricade hard before Flare kneels down over him and begins laying rights and lefts! The ref is yelling at the pair to quit, threatening to disqualify either of them. He is very unwilling to, however, but his authority is long gone regardless. Cedar manages to get his headset back on.
Cedar: "Is this thing working?"
Dennis: "Unfortunately...why did you let him take your headset and then assault me like that?!"
Cedar: "Let him?! He ripped off my damn head! And if he assaulted you, he didn't do it enough..."
Dennis: "...true colours are coming out here."
Cedar: "The referee has lost all control here. It's simply chaos, Flare beating Michaels to within an inch of his life here!"
In the ring, JHalc has been slowly recovering and begins to look around wondering where everyone is. Eventually he sees that Flare is owning Michaels in the time keeper's area. He is about to shoot out of the ring, when suddenly the whole arena begins to heavily boo. Running down the ramp are Legion members Drake Dysfunction and Hitman Alex! The ref is seeing none of this and neither does JHalc, until a Low Blow occurs from behind him by Drake. JHalc drops to one knee, holding his lower regions, before Drake holds onto his hair and pulls him up. He places the struggling Jack of Hearts head in between his legs and lifts him up onto his shoulders. Drake then pushes him up in the air, twisting him round, before grabbing hold of his head and driving it into the mat with the Dysfunctional Disaster! The crowd boo heavily, as JHalc is knocked out cold. Drake jumps back up to his feet and starts taunting JHalc, telling him he’ll never be the Intercontinental Champion. He then turns to Hitman Alex and slaps him on the chest, telling him to end this. Hitman Alex begins to have a sick smile on his face, as this may be the revenge he is after for JHalc costing him the XWA World Heavyweight Championship. He slowly walks backwards, into the corner. Meanwhile, as Hitman is backing up, Michaels has since managed to fight Flare back and shoves him violently backwards, knocking him directly into the referee and also Tyler Lawson. The ref goes collapsing over the announce table and thuds down hard onto the floor.
Cedar: "And now the ref goes flying! We didn’t have any control before with him, let alone knocked out! I’m not sure Michaels has spotted the Legion in the ring."
Dennis: "Good. JHalc needs a kick in the skull to wisen him up once and for all!"
Michaels leans on the announce table, as Flare stumbles backwards into his partner Lawson, knocking the pair over. Michaels pulls his sweat ridden hair back and looks in the ring, spotting that his tag team partner JHalc is about to get punted into next week by Hitman Alex! The Showstealer quickly reaches down and grabs a steel chair, folding it shut and wanders over to the ring. He slides in, chair in hand, and charges to Hitman Alex and Drake. The pair quickly leaps through the ropes and up the ramp, as Michaels swings the chair around like a mad man. The Legion members walk backwards up the ramp, smiling at Michaels for the damage they managed to do. Michaels is furious and lobs the chair towards them, just missing the pair as it smashes into the steel ramp. Michaels points at both men, wanting to kick their teeth out right now, but he knows he has a match in hand. Michaels backs away from the ropes and checks on his hurting partner, who is nursing his never regions more than anything.
Cedar: "The Legion run off like the cowards they are, attacking everyone from behind!"
Dennis: "Cowards?! You weren’t calling JHalc that at King of Xtreme were you?! It’s alright for him to smack a hammer in the back of someone’s skull but not for that person to exact some revenge?"
JHalc isn’t faring too well, as he informs Michaels to get on with the match. Michaels hasn’t been paying attention and before he knows it, Tyler Lawson is back in the ring and has him waist locked from behind. The Instant Classic pops his hips and launches his XtremeMania opponent over his head, nailing him with a beautiful German Suplex. Michaels hits the canvas hard and completely rolls over from the momentum. Flare holds onto him and turns Michaela round, positioning him in a Powerbomb situation. He then lifts Davey Boy into the air and positions him slowly on his right shoulder - he’s going for Blood Reign! The crowd responds by starting to snap of many camera flashes, knowing this move can end any match. Michaels knows this too and quickly wriggles free, landing behind his long time rival. As Michaels does this, JHalc is picked up by Lawson by doesn’t get a chance for any offence, as the Jack of Hearts Dropkicks the hurting right knee. Lawson flops to the mat, screaming in pain. Michaels then shoves Flare chest first into a corner, before falling to one knee. Evan hits it hard. JHalc then suddenly bursts into life and charges across the ring towards Flare. Jay leaps into the air and drives his knees directly into the spin of his former tag team partner with the JHalc Express! Flare crumbles to the mat, holding his spine that has taken a pounding all match long. JHalc stumbles backwards on his feet, his lower area still hurting him before leaning on the ropes taking a breather. Michaels has since reached down and has his sights set on Tyler Lawson.
Cedar: "Michaels has his hands on Lawson. Lord only knows what he wants to do to him right now!"
Dennis: "Well we may find out! Michaels looks deranged."
Michaels lifts Lawson up and lays in more right hands, kicking him in the gut afterwards. Lawson leans over and the XWA World Heavyweight Champion runs to the ropes, bouncing off them and jumping in on Lawson. Michaels looks for his Fameasser maneuver, but Tyler dodges out of the way of it and catches his legs, tripping him over and holding them up. In a flash, Lawson places his left leg in between Michaels’ legs and crosses them over, quickly turning him onto his chest and sitting down, locking in his Sharpshooter finisher!
Cedar: "SHARPSHOOTER! SHARPSHOOTER! Lawson has the Sharpshooter locked in! He could tap out here!"
Dennis: "Break his damn legs and back! But then hurt yourself somehow too, Lawson!"
Cedar: "...well I guess that isn’t bias….you only want everyone to get hurt!"
Dennis: "Damn right."
The fans of Lawson leap to their feet and begin yelling out “TAP! TAP! TAP!” at the top of their lungs. Michaels is laid out, screaming in pain - he forgot how painful Tyler Lawson can lock in this classic wrestling hold! Lawson sits back as much as he can, applying tremendous pressure to his hated opponent. Michaels pushes himself up, trying to break free, but it’s no use. He collapses back down onto his stomach and begins to rapidly tap out. The crowd give off that mixed reaction again, favouring the cheers, as the XWA World Heavyweight Champion taps out like a drummer in a band! Lawson looks around, waiting for the bell to be rung. But it doesn’t happen - he soon realises the ref was knocked down earlier! Lawson yells out an expletive, annoyed, but keeps the hold locked on as Michaels continues to tap. Then, JHalc finally regains his strength and stands near the ropes, catching eyes with Lawson and flipping him off with both middle fingers. Lawson drops Michaels legs in a heartbeat and charges for JHalc. Lawson makes a huge mistake, as JHalc just suckered him in with ease as he holds onto the top rope and drops it down, sending Tyler Lawson flying over it and thudding the floor below.
Cedar: "Lawson goes flying! He had the match won and now JHalc just sucked him right in...ohhhh wait a minute!"
Dennis: "Not that again..."
The reaction is correct, as JHalc has since climbed out of the ring and has reached under it - the wooden mallet gets a cheap pop! JHalc’s weapon of choice is raised into the air by the Jack of Hearts and have his eyes wide open, stalking Lawson. As the number one contender for the World Title gets up to his feet, JHalc smashes the mallet into his stomach with brute force! Lawson falls down to the floor, holding his stomach in agony as JHalc admires his handy work twiling the mallet in his left hand in celebration. In the ring, Evan Flare has managed to recover. He was about to head over to Michaels to go for his Blood Reign once more, but heard the mallet shot on the outside. Flare is furious and stomps over to the ropes behind JHalc. He leans over and yells at his former partner, somewhat shocked he would resort to these kind of tactics. JHalc hears him and isn’t in the mood for having to explain himself. Without any hesitation, JHalc’s face twists up in anger and he swings round, smashing the mallet straight across the head of Evan Flare as he leans down over the ropes! The top of the mallet smashes into many pieces, shards of wood flying in every direction. The crowd give off the loudest “OHHHHHHHH!” of the night, as Flare is cracked over the skull. JHalc stumbles back a couple of feet, looking at the remaining handle in his left hand, shocked he hit Flare so hard with it and how it exploded! The crowd then start chanting “HOLY SHIT!” over and over, as Flare holds onto his head as he stumbles backwards.
Cedar: "MY GOD! The mallet just evaporated over Flare’s head!"
Dennis: "I think parts of it went in the cheap seats up top!"
Flare then, still holding his head, stumbles around knocked out of it. As he does, a recovering David Michaels launches his trademarked right foot into the air and connects with the Shattered Teeth Symphony (Sweet Chin Music)! The shot echoes around the arena, as Michaels catches him flush in the jaw. Evan Flare drops to the mat like a ton of bricks and is completely knocked out cold. The D-Volution fans cheers, as Michaels drops to his knees and hooks the near leg of Flare, still hurting himself from the Sharpshooter JHalc quickly tosses the mallet handle over his head and rushes around the ring, picking the half awake referee up and shoving him back in. JHalc climbs back in and drags the ref right next to the pin, as he begins to slowly count.
Watts: "Here is your winner...DDDDDDD-VOLUTIONNNNNNNNN!!!"
Cedar: "Well I’ll be damned...they pull another fast one!"
Dennis: "You know, this is getting outrageous. How many times is JHalc going to use that damn mallet?!"
Cedar: "Frankly, for as long as he doesn’t get caught doing so..."
Dennis: "Would you quit being bias?"
Cedar: "I’m not! I don’t condone that behaviour at all, but the referee can only call what he sees and he didn’t see half that damn match to begin with!"
Dennis: "Well I’m just happy it happened to Flare and Lawson, as I hate them too..."
Michaels pushes Flare’s leg away and remains sat up, looking round at him with disgust. JHalc smiles as he, once again, triumphed with his trademark mallet. Michaels looks up and smiles at him, as Nova climbs into the ring in joy. JHalc reaches his left hand out and pulls his World Champion partner up, the two admiring what they managed to achieve here tonight. The beaten up ref is handed the XWA World Heavyweight Championship, before Nova snatches it out of his hand and places it on Michaels left shoulder. JHalc has since slid out of the ring and picked up the mallet handle, looking at it and given a “not bad” expression, before sliding back in. He joins his D-Volution stable mates as they are about to pose for the camera, when Tyler Lawson hobbles back into the ring and charges at JHalc, tackling him around the waist. His fans cheer, as he backs him into a corner. As he goes to attack him, JHalc raises the mallet handle up in his left hand and cracks it in the back of Lawson’s head. Lawson become lifeless, as JHalc angrily pushes him away. Michaels then pulls the XWA World Title Belt to his hands and cracks it right into the skull of Tyler Lawson, knocking him to the mat near the corner. Lawson’s cheering fans become over swamped with Michaels cheering fans, as D-Volution now has the upper hand. JHalc dusts off his new prized mallet handle and reaches behind him, picking up his favourite fedora hat that has been hanging on the ring post all match. He places it on his head, slightly at an angle, as Michaels drops to his knees and holds the XWA World Heavyweight Championship in Lawson’s face. The cameraman gets in close to capture the audio...
Michaels: "This will NEVER be your’s. When are you going to learn that I am BETTER THAN YOU?! I have beaten you before and I will beat you again at XtremeMania. Look at your buddy...look at him!"
Lawson is now on his side looking over at Evan Flare across the ring, who hasn’t moved a muscle since that mallet shot and Superkick. Michaels continues the rant.
Michaels: "You think that was going to stop us? You think that was going to stop ME?! I will tear everything and everyone you know apart. You were wanted last week that your life was going to be made a living hell and this was phase one. Take your ball and just go home. You can not beat me. You will NEVER become the World Heavyweight Champion. You just remember that."
Lawson rolls his eyes upwards to catch Michaels glare. He coughs before uttering the words...
Lawson: "...screw...you..."
Michaels: "...you were warned."
Michaels then stands back up and then drops straight back down, driving the XWA World Title into his skull a second time. Now Tyler is out cold, as Michaels stands back up straight. JHalc, Nova and Michaels all stand over what was the new Death Sentence, raising their arms in the air - Michaels was the one with the upper hand tonight and he was in no joking mood.
Cedar: "Ladies and gentlemen, that was a chaotic match up and we just witnessed a side of Michaels that I do not feel comfortable in watching. Tyler Lawson knows how to push the buttons of the World Heavyweight Champion, but he may have pushed them a little too far."
Dennis: "Well at least he’s starting to show some damn balls. I’m sick and tired of this damn fool acting like a jackass. He brings this side out of him at XtremeMania, Lawson doesn’t have a hope in hell!"
Cedar: "And you’ve got to believe The Legion, Drake in particular, will need to watch his back next week after what he did to JHalc earlier. JHalc is a real threat for that Intercontinental Title Adam."
Dennis: "Don’t you worry about The Legion. They know what they are doing."
Cedar: "Well ladies and gentlemen, it has been another hell of a night here on Vendetta. Michaels and JHalc may have hell to pay next week if Lawson has anything to say about it! Good night everybody!"
Dennis: "BEER TIME!"
As the show begins to go off the air, D-Volution’s theme music begins to play once again as the trio of Nova, JHalc and David Michaels stand victorious in the centre of the ring. Right now, they are looking unstoppable and they have sent a message to Tyler Lawson. A message that has been well and truly heard...

Subject: Re: Main Event: D-Volution vs Tyler Lawson and Evan Flare Sat Nov 09, 2013 11:59 pm
After the typical entrances and a last-minute commercial whoring of the program by XWA Management, the broadcast goes through the slow zoom-in from the rafters to the ring to show the fans, in an attempt to put the match into perspective. On one side of the ring is JHalc and David Michaels. On the other side of the ring is Tyler Lawson and Evan Flare. There isn't anything particular out of the ordinary when it comes to attire. Both teams seem to be discussing whom will start the match. After some debate, Tyler Lawson asserts himself as the starter for one side. Not in-coincidentally, David Michaels asserts that JHalc should start the match for their team, much to the chagrin of the Albuquerque live-audience.
Both men circle the ring with a certain focused demeanor. In another situation, perhaps JHalc would be more lighthearted, but this isn't the same Tyler Lawson he's defeated so many times before. They lunge at one another and go into a collar-end-elbow tie-up. Lawson gets the advantage early due to his advantages in both size and strength, as he turns the tie-up into a side headlock. JHalc firmly presses both hands into the side and back area of Lawson, allowing him a flat surface to push against. He slowly starts walking Lawson to the ropes, and as he gets Lawson off his planted feet, his job gets a lot easier. JHalc works it into a bit of a run and pushes Lawson off of him into the ropes. Lawson hits the ropes and returns to JHalc with a clothesline attempt that JHalc ducks underneath. Instead of running to the opposite side of the ring, however, Lawson stops dead in his tracks in the center of the ring. After a brief pause, JHalc turns around expected to catch Lawson with some offense upon return, and instead receives a right-hand to the side of the head, sending him sprawling backward.
"That's one of the areas where Lawson has evolved. He's a complete competitor. No one can get the better of him on the mental side of the match. He's always thinking ahead."
"An unforced error from JHalc."
Lawson follows up the right hand by taking a decisive step toward JHalc, firmly pressing his right hand to his pectoral area, while his left hand grabs JHalc's right wrist. Lawson presses him back toward the ropes and pulls him forward to transfer the momentum in the other direction, as he throws him across the ring for an Irish Whip. As JHalc sprints toward the ropes, Lawson follows him in a half-jog. As JHalc bounces off the ropes and returns, he catches a running knee into the mid-section from Lawson that flips him over. The “Jack of Hearts” (Whatever the fuck that means...) lands squarely on his back as he cries out in pain, clutching at his abdomen. Lawson bends over at the waist and reaches down with his big right paw and grabs a hand-full of JHalc's hair. He brings JHalc up to his feet, and once again grabs him by the wrist. He throws him into his corner. To avoid a referee interaction, Flare backs away from the corner as JHalc wraps his arms around the top rope and leans against the turnbuckle. Lawson walks cautiously over and reaches out his right hand to tag-in Evan Flare. Before leaving the ring, Lawson bends down at the knees and grabs JHalc just below his knees, as he pulls his legs up into his arm-pits. With a strong grip, Lawson pulls away, lifting as he does, pulling JHalc out of the corner and landing hard on his back once again. Flare grabs the top rope with both hands, pulls the rope down, and uses the momentum to catapult himself over the top, dropping a left-elbow into the pectoral area of JHalc.
The crowd explodes with cheers as the XWA audience is greeted mid-match by the first adversarial encounter between Flare and his former tag-partner JHalc. Evan hits the ground with a thud, but is quickly up to his feet as a basic elbow isn't worth attempting a pin-fall. Flare brings up with him JHalc, using similar means to his tag team partner Tyler Lawson. He grabs JHalc by the wrist and Irish Whips him as well. JHalc, apparently having found his second-wind, reverses the Irish Whip attempt and sends Flare for the ride instead. JHalc reaches his right arm out in a shallow hook, trying to land a hip-toss, but Flare fights through the hook and leaps forward, hooking JHalc's unprotected left-arm instead, performing a hip-toss himself. For the third time in the match, JHalc lands unprotected on his back, as his back collides with the ring creating a sound that echos throughout the arena. JHalc tries to alleviate by sitting up and getting his back off the mat, but his short-sighted plan back-fires as he catches Evan Flare's right-boot into the center of his back. The fans cringe at the sound it makes, but their facial expressions are no-match for JHalc's, which is obvious as the camera switches views and zooms in on his face. Flare drops down to one knee and puts JHalc into a chin-lock.
"And now we get into the cerebral part of the contest. Flare and Lawson probably don't want this to be a match at a high tempo. Slowing things down is a smart move from Evan Flare."
"Cerebral? Are we sure Evan Flare isn't suffering from extreme ring rust? Maybe he's not in shape!"
JHalc clutches at Flare's arms to try to break the grip, but struggles to do so. The seated position he's in doesn't help his cause. Once again, it appears JHalc catches a second-wind and begins to build his way up. He works his feet in close to his body and with a turn of his hips, completely switches the effect of the force from Flare from above. JHalc plants his free hand into the ground and uses it, along with his legs, to push himself off the mat. With the change in vertical discrepancy due to the change in posture from JHalc, Flare's grip is diminished greatly. In a bent-over position, Flare holds JHalc's head to his ribcage with his arms locked under his chin, but that changes when JHalc reaches back with both arms and throws an elbow into the stomach of Flare, causing his hold to come almost completely free. JHalc connects with a second elbow and his hold is now completely a thing of the past. JHalc stands up straight for the first time in about a thirty seconds. He reaches back with his right arm and throws a punch that sends Flare stumbling clumsily backward.
JHalc follows this up by pressing both of his hands into the chest of Flare, pushing him toward the rope. He grabs Flare by the wrist and sends him for an Irish Whip. JHalc walks into the center of the ring and bends down, connecting with a Back-Body-Drop as Flare returns. Flare shoots through the air and smashes into the ring with a sound similar to a car crash. JHalc is quick to turn around and pick Flare up by the hair. With Flare struggling to find balance, JHalc rag-dolls the smaller competitor into his corner. Right on time, JHalc charges forward with a lunging boot to the face of Flare. The impact snaps Flare's head backward as he loses all equilibrium and falls to the floor. Nova hops down off the apron and the referee returns to normal human capabilities. With the referee now watching, JHalc tags in David Michaels, who joins the action for the first time.
"And here comes the World Champion."
"I can't wait until XtremeMania, when I can call him the former World Champion...wait...then I'd be calling Lawson World Champion...this is just a lose-lose for me!"
"Well we'll just have to wait to see about who the champ's gonna be."
David Michaels steps into the ring and turns back toward his corner, grabbing Flare by the hair and pulling him up to his feet. David pulls Evan into him and connects with a quick snap-suplex, but upon impact rolls through toward Flare and uses the momentum to roll to his feet in a reverse-somersault. As he reaches his feet, he quickly drops back down to the ground (ten times!) and connects with ten separate elbow drops in succession. Michaels tries for a pin attempt but only manages a one count, despite Flare obviously still being troubled by the damage he's taken to this point. Michaels reaches down and grabs a hand-full of hair and picks Flare up once again. He reaches down and slots his head under one of Flare's arms while grabbing him by the thighs and lifting him into the air and connecting with an inverted atomic drop. Flare bounces off the mat with some theatrics to help sell the maneuver. Michaels shoots back to his feet and turns and runs in the opposite direction. He bounces off the ropes with Flare still nursing his ailment, and sprints toward him. Out of panic, Flare himself jumps into the air and connects with a dropkick that catches the entire arena off guard. Both men hit the mat, but Flare seems to take the brunt of the damage as he lays lifeless on his chest. The camera zooms in on Michaels who stares upward, trying to collect his thoughts.
After a few seconds, Flare gathers himself and starts to crawl toward Lawson for a tag-attempt, but doesn't get close before Michaels is able to grab him. Michaels pulls him away from the corner and drops an eleventh elbow of the match, this time onto the back-of-the-head area. Michaels reaches down again and picks Flare up. Once again, he Irish Whips Flare into his corner. He follows Flare and connects with a clothesline in the corner, while simultaneously tagging JHalc back into the match. JHalc steps into the ring to replace Michaels. He turns toward Flare, who stumbled out of the corner but dropped to one knee to try to gather himself, and sees an opportunity. He wraps his arm around his neck and drops to the ground with a snap DDT. After the impact leads to his face hitting the mat, Flare turns to his back as he lays motionless near the D-Volution corner. JHalc is slow to his feet, but in a calculated way, as he appears to be planning his next move. He moves toward his corner, grabbing Flare by the legs and locking him into a Single-Leg Boston Crab. This quickly wakes up Flare, who screams out in agony.
"What a dynamic at play here! When they were teaming, both men were making others submit. Now, JHalc has Flare in a bad position in his own corner."
"Things change, Cedar! That was years ago, nobody cares."
The fans start to pick up the noise, cheering on Flare. After the initial panic from the pain, Flare is able to think of the proper way to counter the attack, so he works himself into the submission, moving closer to JHalc. This temporarily allows JHalc's maneuver to create more torque, but it also allows Flare to get into position to counter strike. Flare plants both hands into the mat to create a higher center of gravity, and with his free leg, reaches up and kicks JHalc with his heel, breaking his hold and knocking him backward. JHalc is quickly back up to his feet and attempts to put Evan back into the submission, but Flare kicks him away with little effort. Flare gets back up to his feet and connects with a right hand that knocks JHalc backward. And another right hand, this time knocking him back even further. Flare plants hard with his right leg and turns quickly, looking to connect with a Spinning Backfist, but it's ducked by JHalc, who turns it into a Side Effect. Both men hit the mat hard, but JHalc gathers himself quickly and goes for a pin-fall attempt, but only gets a two count.
JHalc looks upset, but not surprised when he sees two fingers in the air from the official. He looks back toward Michaels, who says some things that aren't audible, likely about their offensive attack. Growing restless on the apron, Tyler Lawson starts getting the crowd involved. JHalc hears the fans cheers and looks to see what Lawson is up to - and he isn't happy about his long-time rival looking less than worried, which leads to a war of words between the two. Evan Flare is on all fours, trying to gather himself and get up to his feet. The yelling from David Michaels finally gets the attention of JHalc as he returns his attention to the matter at hand a second too late. As soon as Flare gets to his feet, he spins and connects with a Spinning Backfist that plants JHalc into the mat. However, Flare falls forward as well. Both men get on all fours and crawl to their corners. The crowd explodes with anticipation, as they tag in Tyler Lawson and David Michaels in at the same time.
"HERE WE GO!"
"Yup...this is your main event, people..."
Lawson charges into the ring, ready to kick some ass. He's fired up. He wants his hands on Michaels...where's Michaels? On the top rope! Avoiding the inevitable fistfight, and actually causing some boos as the crowd expected some action, the champ wisely goes for another tactic, scaling the turnbuckles while Lawson is busy scrambling through the ropes. Lawson notices just as the Showstealer comes off the top, but his Crossbody is stopped dead as Tyler stands his ground and catches the champion. The Instant Classic gets a sly grin on his face. He's got the chance to do some damage his sworn enemy, and he'll be damned if he doesn't do it. He makes sure he's got a good grip on Michaels, then flips him up, head down, swinging him over and dropping him straight over his knee with a modified Tilt-A-Whirl Backbreaker. Michaels arches backwards as Tyler holds him there for a few seconds. After spinning him about 90 degrees, he continues the combination by grabbing Michaels around the waist and throwing him back into a Belly-to-Back Suplex. As Michaels slides across the ring, teeth clenched, Lawson scrambles back over to him and makes a cover. 1...2...No, Michaels kicks out and immediately tries to dash away, but Tyler grabs him by the head, keeping the champ in place as he pulls him up.
After reaching his feet, Lawson brings Michaels over to the corner and drives his forehead into the top turnbuckle. David's head snaps back as he stumbles back away from the corner, but Lawson is right back on him and Irish Whips him right back. Michaels smacks back-first on the buckles, throwing a hand to his back upon impact. As he slowly walks out of the corner, Lawson bends over, gets low on his opponent, and lifts him up and over with a Back Body Drop. As Michaels slowly struggles to sit up, Lawson turns around, throws him back down, and hooks the leg for another cover. 1...2...Kickout again. JHalc stands in the corner, trying to cheer his partner on to make the tag as Flare is just now getting back to his feet on the other side. Lawson stays on the offensive. grabbing David's feet and quickly spinning him around. After positioning the Showstealer just right, he leans back, arms wrapped around Michaels's ankles, and falls, trying to slingshot his opponent back into the corner. David's feet hit the mat and he goes flying...but somehow manages to land on the second rope, putting his hands on the top to steady himself. As Lawson stands back up and turns himself around, Michaels springs off the ropes in desperation, spinning around and nailing the Instant Classic with a Forearm Smash.
"And things like that are why David Michaels is the world champion. He can just pull a counter like that out of nowhere sometimes."
"It's not gonna work forever though."
Lawson is knocked to the ground, and he holds his face as Michaels falls flat on his back as well. After a few seconds, Michaels throws his legs up and pushes off, kipping up straight to his feet. A cheer flies up from D-Volution supporters as Michaels stumbles over towards his corner. He falls down to the mat, smacking JHalc's hand along the way, and the Jack of Hearts leaps over the top rope and back in to get back to work on his long-time rival. Lawson is just getting back up at this point, and as JHalc gets to him, he leaps up and floats over around the larger man's back before falling back the way he came and driving Tyler's head into the mat with a hard DDT. Lawson flips over onto his back, and JHalc is quick to make the pin attempt. 1...2...Not quite. As Tyler sits up, JHalc pops back to his feet and grabs Lawson around the head. After pulling the Instant Classic back to his feet, JHalc takes him back to the corner, where Michaels is waiting. The champion groggily sticks a boot up onto the top rope, and JHalc wastes no time in grabbing his opponent around the waist and falling straight back, driving Lawson face-first into Michaels's foot. It hits with a smack, and knocks the King of Xtreme for a loop.
As Lawson stumbles back and drops to a knee in the center of the ring. JHalc rolls out to the apron and slowly starts to ascend the ropes. Lawson holds a hand to his forehead until JHalc reaches the top, and the Jack of Hearts waits until he's back up to come off. After Tyler stands up and turns around, JHalc leaps forward, throwing his arm back to strike his opponent. However, Lawson sees this move coming, and ducks under his opponent, avoiding the arm while grabbing JHalc around the neck. As quickly as JHalc came off the ropes, he is sent down to his back by a hard STO from Lawson. Tyler's fans cheer at the counter, and Lawson immediately starts to push himself up, intent on making it up before his opponent. From his hands and knees, this is easily done. Tyler steps over his opponent and backs into the corner, leaning there as he waits for JHalc to stand. Once the Jack of Hearts is up, Lawson quickly moves in and grabs his arm, twisting it around over his head as he leads the smaller man towards his corner. He gets there and tags Evan Flare in, and it's time for some teamwork.
"Now they're isolating JHalc. Good strategy for Lawson and Flare."
"Peh, 'good strategy'. That's the oldest tag plan in the book."
Lawson pulls JHalc's arm taught and wrenches it forward as Flare pulls back on the ropes. After springing himself over the top, Evan comes down with a Double Axe Handle onto JHalc's shoulder. JHalc groans and holds his upper arm as Lawson exits to the apron. Meanwhile, Flare takes JHalc's arm and twists around again, re-applying the pressure. He lifts his leg up and sticks it in JHalc's armpit, pulling hard on the arm as his opponent starts "AAAAH"ing in pain. After a few seconds of this, Flare puts his foot down and, still holding JHalc's wrist, pushes him into the ropes. He then pulls back sharply, driving his own shoulder sharply into his former partner's, leading to more grunts and JHalc throwing his left hand over the same shoulder. Flare reaches back and tags Lawson again, as Michaels can only watch his partner get double teamed. Flare leads JHalc over into the neutral corner only to pull as hard as he can and Irish Whip him back towards Tyler. The Instant Classic is ready and waiting, and as JHalc gets to him, Tyler shoves his upper body through the ropes and rams his shoulder into his rival's ribs. JHalc doubles over, holding his midsection, and starts stumbling backwards as Flare exits to the apron. Lawson is back in the ring soon after, and heads over to deal with his opponent some more.
After JHalc straightens his back back up and faces Lawson, the Instant Classic goes straight for the next move. He quickly grabs JHalc under his left knee, and around that same right shoulder. Without hesitation, Lawson pops his hips and launches JHalc into the air, driving him down into the mat with a T-Bone Suplex. This concerns Michaels, as that might just get Lawson the 3. As Tyler hooks the leg for the cover, the champion enters the ring and makes a break for them. 1...2...Michaels lands a boot to Lawson's left shoulder blade, pushing Tyler off of JHalc and breaking up the pin. The referee turns and yells at the champion, and Evan Flare sticks himself halfway through the ropes and into the ring, in case some funny business occurs. However, Michaels quickly throws his hands up and backs himself over toward his corner, exiting the ring just as Tyler climbs back to his feet. Lawson shoots a glare at the Showstealer, sharing a few choice words with him before reaching down and grabbing JHalc again. He pulls the former World Champion back to his feet, all the while hooking him up in a Front Facelock. After staring directly into Michaels's eyes for several seconds, he slaps his hand off of JHalc's back and drops into a hard DDT of his own, making up for the one JHalc gave him not long ago.
"And Lawson plants JHalc! This'll be over if he can get the cover!"
"If Michaels lets him get the cover..."
As Lawson rolls JHalc's limp frame over and goes for the pin, David Michaels again leaps into the ring and goes to break the pin up. This time, the referee sees him and quickly rushes over to restrain him and get him back to his corner. Lawson stands back up, really pissed that his pin attempt has been foiled again. After the referee coaxes Michaels back ouside to the apron, Lawson again drops down and tries to pin JHalc. The ref makes sure Michaels isn't coming in and makes the cover. 1.....2.....Kickout! JHalc just barely got out of that one. Lawson is incensed; he objects to the count, but the referee holds up two fingers, and his decision is final. Lawson is still in control though, and he can just keep piling on the punishment. He stands back up, cracks his neck, and reaches down to grab JHalc, who is still in la-la land after that DDT. After pulling his opponent back to his feet, the Instant Classic scoops him up and quickly deposits him back on the mat with a Body Slam. Normally, one would go for a pin here, but that's not really an option at this point, and Lawson has other plans. As quick as a flash, he spins around and lunges at the champion, ringing Michaels's bell with a hard forearm shot. The crowd pops big for what, normally, would have been a cheap shot, but here is well deserved. However, this pisses Michaels off greatly, and as Lawson turns around, the Showstealer leaps through the ropes and is on top of him in seconds.
The crowd breaks into a frenzy as the action in the ring does the same. Michaels starts pounding on Lawson's back, and Tyler turns around to return the favor to the "sexy boy"s sexy face. The two trade shot after shot with each other as the crowd eats it up. Finally these two have a chance to beat the crap out of each other. It's a great moment, as they trade right hands back and forth, reminiscent of their match in Pittsburgh two years ago. However, it's short-lived, as the referee shoves himself between the two and tries his darnedest to separate them. Even Evan Flare comes in and grabs Lawson around the waits, trying to pry Tyler away, but Lawson and Michaels just keep swinging at each other. Finally, Nova slides into the ring, too, and the combined force of her and the referee gets Michaels back to his corner, while Flare manages to get in front of Lawson and shove him off toward the other side. As Nova gets Michaels to calm himself down, Flare gets Lawson over to the corner and steps through the ropes, holding out his hand and asking Lawson to tag him in, for his own sake. After turning around to look at Michaels and seeing JHalc start to get up, Lawson reluctantly obliges, allowing Evan back in the match.
"This could have just degenerated into an all-out brawl."
"But it didnt! What a snooze-fest!"
Flare gets over to JHalc just as he reaches his feet. Nova has just gotten Michaels back onto the apron and has dropped down closest to the camera. Flare locks JHalc into a Front Facelock, lifting the arm over his head and setting up for a Suplex. He lifts his former partner up vertically, but Halc somehow pulls a counter out of his ass, falling back behind Flare, landing on his feet, and dropping him with a desperation Neckbreaker. Lawson, shocked by this development, quickly sticks his hand back out for Flare to tag. But it's JHalc who is on all fours, or three, as one of them is clutching his lower back, crawling towards his own corner. He leaps forward and tags Michaels in, and the champ jumps through the ropes and makes a break for Flare. Evan has rolled over, both hands on the back of his head, but was trying to get back over to Lawson. However, Michaels gets to him first, and pulls him away from the corner by the foot just in time. From there, he steps over Flare's back and hooks the foot, locking in a Half-Crab for good measure.
Flare reaches out for the ropes, his saving grace, while Michaels wrenches the leg back as hard as he can. This submission is smart, as it not only wears down Flare, but also allows JHalc to catch his breath over in the corner in case Michaels needs him. Lawson tries to come through the ropes, but the referee quickly stops him, knowing what will obviously happen if he lets him in. The crowd starts to boo as he goes back through the ropes, but their attention is diverted as Flare starts to fight through the pain, clawing his way toward the ropes. As the camera's far angle also shows JHalc slowly pulling himself to his feet, still favoring his back, Evan claws, and claws, trying to get to the bottom rope...but Michaels doesn't let him, releasing the hold and again pulling him out to the center of the ring. However, Flare takes advantage of the momentary lapse, rolling himself onto his back and planting his foot on Michaels's midsection, shoving the champ away from him in order to scramble back to his feet. This would have been a much better plan if he had hit harder, though, as Michaels doesn't go back very far, and as Flare is on his hands and knees, the Showstealer has an easy time of leaping him, sticking his leg on Flare's head and taking him back down with a FameAsser. As the impact of that rolled Flare over, Michaels wastes no time in hooking the leg for the cover. 1...2...No! Flare barely kicks out, and Michaels isn't happy about it. After once again slowly pulling himself back up, the champ waves toward himself, calling JHalc's attention. He reaches out and tags the Jack of Hearts back in, then walks to a set position near the ropes, pointing his partner toward Flare's limp frame.
"Now what are they going for?"
"Knowing Michaels, it's probably something stupid and unnecessary."
JHalc slowly gets himself back in the ring. Clearly, Michaels is the fresher man, but if the champ wants a double team, he's getting a double team. JHalc hobbles over to Flare and picks him up, this time hooking him up for a Suplex, instead of the other way around. After slowly setting up in front of Michaels - it seems like they're going for a DWI-type move, but it never comes to be, as Flare comes to his senses and sharply knees JHalc in the ribs. He gets released, and quickly lands a dropkick, sending JHalc right into Michaels. This allows Flare, who landed nicely on his hands and knees, to leap forward with a burst of energy and tag Lawson into the match, to the delight of the fans. They go crazy as he nearly explodes into the ring, quickly taking JHalc down with a huge right hand. Michaels gets one too, and is floored as well. However, Michaels pops right back to his feet, though it's only for a second, as Lawson quickly hooks him up and throws him into a quick Hip Toss. As the champ slides across the ring, JHalc slowly gets back up to his feet, only to be floored once again, this time by a Lariat. Lawson is just cleaning house right here, and he waves JHalc up to continue his combination. The Jack of Hearts unknowingly obliges, and Lawson nails him right in the side of the head with an Enzuigiri. JHalc just goes limp on the mat, having taken an unusual amount of punishment in this match, compared to the other three. After crawling back to the corner, Lawson pulls himself back up and sits there in a crouch, Edge-like, Just waiting for the opening.
Slowly, strugglingly, JHalc pushes himself up to his hands and knees. A "Lawson! Lawson!" chant is running rampant in the crowd. Everyone knows the Spear is coming. JHalc gets to his feet. So does Michaels, coincidentally. Lawson charges forward. Here it comes...NO! Lawson eats a Superkick out of nowhere. Michaels had leaped forward and nailed him with his newly christened Shattered Teeth Symphony. Lawson just stands straight up, out on his feet. He stays there for what seems like forever before losing his balance and stumbling back, falling into a seated position in the corner. Flare, who is still holding the back of his head but had just gotten up, desperately holds his hand out for the tag that just won't come at this point. Michaels and JHalc slowly stumble forward, almost collectively toward Lawson. It's time for some payback. They begin to both stomp a mudhole into him, in the chest, in the stomach, in the legs. Michaels even adds a few Face-Washes in there. The crowd starts to boo the normally well-liked D-Volution. Flare's had enough. He gets to the middle of the ropes and pulls back. After springing to the top rope, he leaps off, flying forward and nailing JHalc unaware with a Flying Clothesline. Using his momentum to get back to his feet, Evan is able to see Michaels charging at him, looking to take out the only other threat. Flare gets the best of him though, getting under him and backdropping him up and over onto the apron.
"And here it is, this is about to get real out of hand!"
Michaels lands on the apron and quickly goes to re-take advantage by driving his shoulder into Flare, but Evan sees this coming and dodges out of the way just in time. Michaels, now left in an awkward position with little balance, has no defense for the huge knee that Flare nails him with immediately after. As the champion crumples to the mat, barely conscious after that, Flare sees JHalc on his hands and knees, and quickly goes over to his former partner. He gets him in the gutwrench, lifts him up...BANG, Blood Reign right to the back of the head. The Jack of Hearts is out of it, just landing in a heap on the canvas. Leaving JHalc for Lawson to pick the scraps up, Flare turns his attention back to Michaels. Seeing him lying motionless on the mat gives him an idea, and he heads over to the corner to start to climb the turnbuckles. Seeing him do this, however, Nova scrambles over to her longtime client, and as Flare ascends the ropes, pulls Michaels out of the ring by the legs. However, this doesn't stop Flare, and he quickly drops down and centers himself in the ropes. He pulls back on the top rope and springs over. Nova barely has time to move out of the way as Evan takes Michaels out with a Plancha.
Meanwhile, Lawson is slowly pulling himself back up to his feet. Seeing JHalc nearly unconscious, he knows that now is his only opportunity. With what energy he has left, still loopy after the stomping he received, the Instant Classic picks JHalc up, locking him in another Front Facelock (I really like those, don't I?). As the crowd goes absolutely bonkers for the finish, Lawson lifts the arm up, picks JHalc up vertical, and quickly drops him with a Toxic Spike. Nobody is left to break up this pin, and Lawson slowly rolls JHalc over for the Lateral Press. Here's the cover.

_______________________________________________________________ Outline of the Post-Match: Lawson starts celebrating, but Nova gets in the ring with a Chair. Nova rears back, but suddenly Flare is behind her and grabs the chair. Lawson and Flare corner Nova, but Michaels gets back in and taps on Lawson's shoulder. David goes to superkick Lawson, but Flare grabs his leg and drops him. Michaels rolls out as Nova escapes too, and Lawson and Flare stand tall in the ring to end the show.
