Superhero Hype reports that Legendary and Warner Bros. Pictures have pushed back the release of Gareth Edwards’ Godzilla 2 from June 8, 2018 to March 22, 2019. Meanwhile, the new Godzilla vs Kong will arrive on May 29, 2020. It was always set for 2020 and is the first film to claim that date. The only other movies set for May 2020 include a mystery Marvel Studios film on May 1.
Godzilla 2 will open against Paramount Pictures’ Amusement Park. This also means that it will no longer be against the sixth Transformers film, believed to be a Bumblebee spinoff. Kong will make his debut in the Godzilla universe with his own film, Jordan Vogt-Roberts’ Kong: Skull Island, on March 10, 2017. If you can’t wait until 2020 to see giant monsters fight, there’s always Legendary and Universal Pictures’ Pacific Rim 2 on December 31, 2018.
Meanwhile, Warner Bros. moved the release date of one of the DC Comics films, believed to be Green Lantern Corps, to July 24, 2020. It was originally set for June 19, 2020, opposite a mystery Pixar film.
Finally, Warner Bros. has an event film planned for December 25, 2018, which will open against a live-action Disney film.
