The Associated Press is the latest mainstream media outlet to pick up on the tragic death of Pedro Aguayo Ramírez’s (pictured at right). Aguayo died early this morning after an accident during a match in Tijuana, Mexico last night where he teamed with Manik to face Extreme Tiger and Mysterio for the CRASH Lucha Libre independent promotion.

Ramirez took a spinning head scissors from Mysterio during the match, got back into the ring, and then took a dropkick to setup a 619 from Mysterio. At this time, the cause of death appears to be from a snapped vertebrae when Aguayo’s head landed on the ropes following the dropkick.

The Associated Press is reporting the death is being investigated as a possible manslaughter, and in the report Hijo Del Santo had the following to say regarding the tragedy:

   “It makes me very sad because he was a professional colleague and I have great affection for his father. I think the fans in Japan, the U.S. and Mexico of course, where he was very popular, must be in mourning, especially because of his youth. He had much ahead of him.”

Manslaughter? It was an accident.

That's the definition of manslaughter. When you accidentally kill someone.

If it was reported that he took a bump to a dropkick. .-. Perhaps he oversold it dangerously? (I've seen tons of stuff where wrestlers get stupid injuries by overselling moves).

Exactly what I was gonna point out... Konnan should not have shook the guy so much... whether they think he's just knocked unconscious or not you gotta be careful when someone is in that kind of position, unresponsive.

I don't really blame them continuing the match but they should've had their entire staff go to El Hijo's aid in getting him out of that ring / out of the arena asap.

I'd feel bad trying to blame Konnan or anyone else there tho... not really anyone's fault as it might've been too late regardless; it's just an unfortunate situation and a really insane accident.

This is tragic. Saw the vid. He was legit out. Manik was even trying to talk to the dude. I don't watch AAA, but it's sad to see someone die in such a way. Also, Rey Mysterio didn't freaking kill the dude. Like what Zanon said, it was probably how El Hijo took the move.

That's absolute garbage. Perro's own fall is what caused the trauma. The only person even remotely chargeable is Konnan, and it sure as fuck wouldn't be for Manslaughter.

They went straight to the finish. And the doctor at the show was attending to someone injured in the back. So he couldn't be out there as fast as he could.

A new report today from MedioTiempo.com has revealed that the Friday night death of AAA star El Hijo Del Perro Aguayo (better known as Perro Aguayo Jr.) was the result of a stroke suffered due to cervical spine damage.

An investigation into the death of Perro Aguayo Jr. has been opened, prompting some to question whether manslaughter charges are a possibility.

At last night’s Lucha Underground television tapings, a ceremony was held in tribute to Perro Aguayo, according to a report from Dave Meltzer. It was noted that Konnan, who was ringside at the CRASH event Friday, was present at the Lucha Underground event.

Aguoyo’s funeral is being held today in Guadalajara, Mexico.

According to Meltzer he was set to beat Alberto for the AAA World Title and they had basically built the next year of TV/Shows around him. He was supposed to beat Alberto and then transition into a feud with Rey.
