With production officially beginning on CBS' Supergirl pilot this week, it's time to see what star Melissa Benoist looks like in her full super-gear.

Here you'll see Benoist - as Kara Danvers/Kara Zor-El - in a costume designed by three-time Oscar winner Colleen Atwood, who also designed the costumes for Supergirl executive producer Greg Berlanti's other two DC Comics shows, The Flash and Arrow.

"In designing Supergirl, I wanted to embrace the past, but more importantly, thrust her into the street-style action hero of today," Atwood said of her work.

Fans will no doubt quickly observe the new TV Supergirl does wear the classic-style skirt the character is known for, though minus the completely bare legs beneath that she usually sports in the comic books.

Aside from the leggings, it literally looks exactly the same as the one in the comics.

lol I don't care how big her boobs are, she just looks a bit boring as a person. Maybe she'll look better when she's acting.

Yeah. She has a boring face. Like if you were to ask me later on what the new Supergirl looks like, I'll say "...shit, I forgot."
