Back in May, we reported that WWE Studios and Lionsgate teamed up for a “six-pack” of films, the first of which is the upcoming movie “Vendetta,” starring Big Show.
Variety is now reporting Dean Ambrose will be starring in one of the WWE and Lionsgate produced movies, and it will be titled “Lockdown.”
Ambrose will star in the film, to be directed by Tomb Raider: Ascension’s Stephen Reynolds, and production begins this month. No word yet on how this will impact Ambrose’s WWE schedule, but it will likely keep him off the road for a similar amount of time Big Show was gone.
“Lockdown” was written by Nathan Brooks and Bobby Lee Darby, who penned “See No Evil 2″ and it follows a police officer who finds himself trapped inside his own precinct. He is being hunted by crooked cops who will stop at nothing to recover incriminating evidence of illegal activities against those closest to him.
“Lockdown will continue to energize and excite with the high level of adrenaline our fans have come to expect from our films,” said WWE Studios president Michael Luisi.
