Rose Byrne is in talks to star in space comedy The Something.

The actress is being eyed to reteam with her Bad Neighbours producers for the film, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Seth Rogen's Point Grey Pictures and Good Universe are working with Universal Pictures on the film about astronauts lost in space.

Byrne's love interest role is described as "an approachable beauty, though she hates being approached".

The Something will be the directorial debut of former Late Show With David Letterman head writer Rodney Rothman, who recently served as co-writer on 22 Jump Street.

Byrne will next be seen in This is Where I Leave You with Tina Fey, Jason Bateman, Adam Driver and Jane Fonda.

The Something is yet to set a release date.
