UPDATE #1

Season 1 has wrapped up. We finished 6-10 on the season after taking over at week 7. Mason Rudolph got playtime right off the bat as Gardner Minshew tore his labrum. Minshew would miss the rest of the Texans game and then would be out additional games. Rudolph was able to win the game and take off the lowly Texans. Mason Rudolph played up and down. Had a couple of highlight plays and showed the ability to extend plays (which was a knock on him). But, had a lot of bad turnovers. Horrible ball placement and underthrows. Minshew returned. He Sucked. I benched him for Rudolph, who would remain the starter until he was benched for Cole McDonald against the Bears in week 16. Cole McDonald was worse than Rudolph but made a couple of highlight plays. In week 17, I decided to give Minshew the start. He started off hot then the wheels fell off and he tossed two picks to the Colts. Tight game. Minshew benched in the third for Rudolph. Rudolph throws a pick but remains in action till the start of the forth when he’s benched for Cole McDonald. McDonald would finish the game and would lead the team on a game winning drive.

Here’s a player who was great, Chris Thompson. On the ground and through the air. He played his way into a contract extension. Laviska Shenault wasn’t involved in the offense at all. We have some good players at WR but nobody that’s elite. There’s a logjam and something will be done about it. Tyler Eifert played really well. Made some great catches.

Rookie CJ Henderson lead the team in interceptions. Really made an impact. I like my CB1 and CB3 but would like to move off of Tre Herndon for an upgrade. The second-best Josh Allen in the league had 14.5 sacks. Had a great sophomore year. Taven Bryan had 7 TFLs which is nice to see.

Going into next year, I’d like to bring in a veteran QB and a rookie QB. Then have a 4-man competition with the vet, the rookie, Minshew and Rudolph. I’ll actually play pre-season and see who I think is the best option. I’d also like an upgrade at running back, another TE and I’m going to try and get an elite RT. I intend to scramble next year and Jawaan Taylor stunk.

KEY OFFENSIVE STATS
Gardner Minshew – 2,376 yds, 13 tds, 10 ints, 67%, 89.5 rtg
Mason Rudolph – 2,127, 12 TDs, 18 ints, 65%, 83 rtg

James Robinson – 548 yds, 8 TDs
Chris Thompson – 490 YDs, 9 TDs, 281 Receiving Yds

DJ Chark, 1164 yds, 10 TDs
Dede Westbrook – 865 yds, 5 TDs
Tyler Eifert – 689 yds, 3 TDs
