Greg Samuel: “You know… It’s funny how far five years will bring you.”

The scene fades in to reveal Greg Samuel, in his black and green entrance jacket and baggy black shorts. He is in a room that XWA management turned into a little longue for the show tonight. On the wall, there is a picture of Samuel competing in his Vendetta debut match.

Greg Samuel: “The year was 2010, that match was on a Vendetta that was in the 20s. The match was myself, Sky Drifter and Kevin Blade. That was my third match in the XWA. Entered 2-0, left 2-1. It’s been over five years since that match took place, and here I am, still in this company. Since then, I’ve battled for the Pure Championship, the Intercontinental Championship, the Million Dollar Championship and the World Heavyweight Championship. I’ve feuded with CF Riley, Xtreme Icon, Spyke, TJ Thunder, Ace Andrews and more guys than you can name. What do most of those names have in common? They are gone. CF Riley, TJ Thunder, couldn’t stand the heat. Spyke, Ace Andrews, got what they wanted, left. Xtreme Icon… well, he’s the exception to the case.”

Samuel points to the picture of himself.

Greg Samuel: “What is crazy for me to think about. The guy in that picture had NO clue when he signed his contract, just how much the XWA would someday mean to him. He had not the slightest of ideas of how the Xtreme Wrestling Association would change his life, shape who he became, and define his career. He had no clue that five years down the line, he’d be standing in Lincoln, Nebraska, lacing up his boots for a match to earn a shot at the XWA World Heavyweight Championship.”

The crowd cheers as Samuel lets a small smirk cross his face, knowing exactly what he just did.

Greg Samuel: “More than five years down the road, here I am, looking to earn another shot at the XWA World Heavyweight Championship. How did I get to this point? Many nights of going out there and working my backside off to get recognition, four matches of the night, one match of the month, 2 Superstars of the Night, four shots at the World Championship, and 2 undefeated streaks ended. One of the many things I’ve learned in my career, is that motivation boils down to going out there and grabbing the small victory. Matches of the night are nice. Intercontinental and Million Dollar Championships are very nice. Ending undefeated streaks is VERY VERY nice, sorry TJ and Matthew. But those are all small victories compared to where I’m headed.”

Samuel turns to a different display on the wall, and the camera goes with him. The display is a shadow box, long and narrow, displayed horizontally. Inside the shadow box, a replica of the XWA World Heavyweight Championship.

Greg Samuel: “The XWA World Heavyweight Championship. The holy grail of the Xtreme Wrestling Association. It should be obvious that the big one is my objective here. And every small victory over the past five years has been building to capturing that title. The difference between the guy standing in front of you and the guy in that picture from 2010, is that that guy wanted the World Championship for the recognition. He wanted the belt just as a resume booster. 2015 Greg Samuel wants the XWA World Heavyweight Championship for the sake of representing the company that he loves. I want that title because I’ll be damned if Razor can just walk around here disrespecting this company and everything it stands for.”

The camera zooms in on Greg’s head.

Greg Samuel: “Tonight, James Best stands in my path towards the World Championship. And James is a great talent, he really is. But I don’t respect him, because he doesn’t respect this company. Best runs around thinking he is some gift to the country and this company. But tonight, I believe he faces his toughest test to date. Best, if you’re listening. You’re running up against a Greg Samuel that just ended an undefeated streak, and who is hell bent on finally getting a taste of the World Championship. I hope you know what you will be in for tonight. I don’t take the nickname Mr. Match of the Night lightly. And when it’s all said and done, I believe you will end up being the biggest of small victories.”

The cameras cut from Samuel to the ring, where Razor Xtreme vs. Dante Cross is about to start.

Great way to review us on Greg's history, and his motivation for wanting to be champion. This could be had there been build up, a Greg vs Razor feud would be cool to see.

Very good work. You could feel the emotion in what Greg was saying and how much he loves XWA. Maybe it finally is time for Samuel to become the top dog.
