WWE was happy to get UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey to join in on the WrestleMania 31 fun. It was a huge surprise that was awesome to see. It turned out so well that WWE wanted to try and bring her back for something in the future. It was known going in that getting her in for a match while she was under contract with UFC was a long-shot. However, many stayed hopeful.

As the Inquisitr reported yesterday, UFC President Dana White claimed that Rousey was “one and done” with WWE and he would not clear her for a match there while she was with UFC. At the end of the day, this wasn’t surprising. Yet some in WWE seemed “stunned” by this.

According to The Wrestling Observer, many within the creative team were stunned by this because they really wanted to get Ronda Rousey in for a match against Stephanie McMahon at some point. While Ronda could very well show up on WWE programming in some way like she did at WrestleMania, a match is another thing entirely.

Ronda Rousey is UFC’s top draw. Dana White knows this as well as all UFC fans. Losing her due to an injury in a WWE match would be drastic for them. UFC recently lost PPV distribution through Dish Network. Dish is the number two satellite company in the United States. Now that UFC lost them, chances are PPV numbers will go down. As a result, UFC can’t afford to lose anyone that could possibly help bring in money to the company.

It makes all the sense in the world to not allow Ronda to go to WWE and work a match, regardless of who it’s against. While Ronda easily could be part of WWE one day, once her UFC contract lets out…it won’t be any time soon. Rousey signed a new deal with UFC last year and she has a lot of fights left on her contract. That said, she is a UFC name for a while.

UFC is allowing her to work on movies between fights. However, that is about all they’re willing to budge on. In WWE, a lot can go wrong. Risking that, especially now, just doesn’t make business sense for UFC. WWE will obviously still try to bring her back in some capacity. So do not think Ronda Rousey and WWE will not work something out to have her on WWE programming in some capacity.
