According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, an incident that occurred leading into NXT Takeover: R Evolution between Kevin Owens, Triple H and Bill DeMott caused some jealousy toward Owens backstage. DeMott was the agent for Owens’ match against CJ Parker and Owens went over his head in regard to a conflict around how the match was booked.

According to the report, DeMott didn’t like the idea of Owens, the big guy, doing a flip dive or that there were so many moves in the opening match. Owens complained to Triple H and the Game told DeMott to let Owens do what he likes. This caused some hard feelings among other talent, as the impression is that the Triple H’s pet talents are allowed to do whatever they like while the rest are micro-managed and not allowed to work the indie style matches that get over with the NXT crowd.

I just find it funny how no one seems to acknowledge/make a big deal of the fact that Triple H has a new "clique" now but since it's full of popular indy guys, no one cares.

If it was reported that Triple H had a new backstage clique consisting of Cena, Roman Reigns, and Big Show, you can guarantee people would have made a huge deal of it.

Lesser of two evils, I suppose. Better that Kevin Owens gets preferential treatment over someone like Great Khali getting it, even if it isn't exactly right.

I was expecting Steen not to fair so well in WWE because he got into arguments with bookers in ROH. He pulled plenty of bullshit in ROH,, worse than what he did here.
