As #SYRIA by Omar Offendum begins to blast out in the Amway Center, the crowd all look around, unsure of who could possibly be arriving. It’s then that the three members of The Gems of Islam step out onto the stage. Kaamil, the largest of the three, waves a Syrian flag proudly as Najib Harron and A’ishah al Saleem both stand in front of him, looking out at the crowd with angry stares. The crowd instantly begin to boo the fact that this group is waving a flag that is different from their own and Najib holds up a microphone. The Gems of Islam slowly saunter down to the ring as “The Tsar of Deceit” begins to speak.
NAJIB HARRON :: “Yes, let your hatred blind you! You boo us, yet you don’t even know us! You make a decision about us based on how we look, just like the rest of America, your stupidity betrays you!”
The Gems of Islam reach the ring and Najib helps “The Syrian Sister” into the ring by pulling the middle rope up and pushing the bottom rope down. Kaamil climbs a turnbuckle next to them and roars as he waves the Syrian flag wildly above his head.
NAJIB HARRON :: “Just like every other person in America, you decide that we are villains because of how we dress, because of how we look, because of how we speak! Because we are different from you, you judge us! You make us feel like criminals everyday because of the actions of a few! Look at yourselves! Every year the American government spends hundreds of millions of dollars on war efforts on the other side of the world, meanwhile your schools fail your children and force them into armed forces! It’s a vicious cycle that you blind Americans don’t even see!”
The crowd continue to boo The Gems of Islam and the makings of a “U-S-A! U-S-A!” resonate throughout the arena.
NAJIB HARRON :: “You people disgust me! Ever since the towers fell down, the American people have vilified Arabic people! You’ve gone to television and condemned all of us for the acts of a few! You hate us and we have done nothing wrong. My father came to this country to escape the fighting in our land! He came as a legal migrant in the 1980s and has worked his entire life since then, everyday, in a factory making minimum wage just to make ends meet. All three of us grew up on this continent and have lived our whole lives here but you still make snap decisions about us!”
The crowd don’t even seem to be listening to what Najib is saying as they drown him out with boos and a loud “U-S-A! U-S-A!” chant. Kaamil and A’ishah both are becoming indignant at Najib’s side and are yelling for the crowd to be quiet.
NAJIB HARRON :: “The truth is, that we are just like every single one of you. We live here, we earn our paychecks here and we all have family here, but we’re sick of constantly being singled out as evil by the American media! You Americans don’t understand that Islamic people are not all terrorists! However, Archbishop Desmond Tutu once said “If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor.” We will not be neutral in this situation of injustice. The American people wanted villains to cheer against so we will give it to them as we punish you all for your crimes.”
The crowd are almost deafening as they boo now.
NAJIB HARRON :: “Yes, please, continue to boo! Continue to hate us! You will all be punished for your crimes soon enough!”
The three members of The Gems of Islam bow their heads and stand in a line in the centre of the ring with their hands crossed in front of them, the three speak in unison loudly into their ow microphones.
THE GEMS OF ISLAM :: “Faletohareb fe sabeel Allah, w a'aref anna Allah ysma’a w yra kol shy!”
The three members of The Gems of Islam all climb out of the ring and start heading towards the back as the camera cuts to TED CEDAR and ADAM DENNIS.
TED CEDAR :: “Well, an interesting debut for this team.” ADAM DENNIS :: “Interesting? They just insulted America! Those dirty no good…” TED CEDAR :: “We’ll be back right after these messages!”
The show cuts to commercial before Adam can finish his thought, thankfully.
