Former WWE and TNA star Matt Hardy joined Mark Madden on 105.9 The X this afternoon to promote his upcoming appearance for Ring of Honor this Saturday at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh, PA. The following is a rough transcription of that interview; check out The X on iHeart.com for more.

Hardy spoke on whether or not he feels he will return to WWE one day to finish off his career:

"There is a part of me that feels it's inevitable in some ways. There's no discussion right now; it's not going to happen tomorrow or anything … I think all the chips will fall into place. There's value in storytelling and DVDs and promotions, and whatever it is. When I started in wrestling I had an end-game. Now I don't have an end-game. I still have TV with Ring of Honor, I get to do the major independent events; I'm having a blast right now."

Fans recently voted the Hardy Boyz as the best tag team in history on WWE.com:

"That was quite a compliment, because there's a lot of great tag teams out there. If I had to pick, my first pick would be the Road Warriors."

On the inevitability of wrestlers falling into issues with substance abuse, injury, etc:

"Once we broke into the business the mentality was, 'even if you're hurt, if you don't go you're a coward'. I never even drank a beer until I was 25-years-old, and Jeff didn't either. I was raised in a very Christian home … If you're on a 300 day-a-year schedule, that happens. I broke my hand in four places in 2009, and I wrestled the next night. I never got a day off."
