Idris Elba is in talks for a 'Luther' film.
The 41-year-old actor, who plays dedicated police officer DCI John Luther in the crime series, is currently discussing the potential for a big screen adaptation with the show's creator Neil Cross.
Talking on ITV chat show 'Lorraine', he said: ''That is definitely on the cards. We've been really lucky that 'Luther' is [so popular] ... it's a small show, we did four episodes and we got such a massive following worldwide so Neil Cross and I are aiming to do the film.
''I'm speaking to him as we speak and we're trying to pull it together.''
Elba is hoping a film will be just as successful as the popular TV show which helped him win a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Miniseries in 2012.
He added: ''It's an ambitious project because it's a television show but we suspect that it's going to be as successful on TV and on film as well.''
Elba is currently earning Oscar buzz for his portrayal of late South African revolutionary Nelson Mandela in 'Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom'.
