The next stage of the Beverly Hills Cop franchise is determined to happen one way or another. As you may remember, a series nearly came out of the Eddie Murphy franchise in the spring after a pilot was filmed for CBS with Brandon T. Jackson playing the son of Murphy's Axel Foley, but CBS surprised everyone by passing. Now, Deadline reports that Paramount Pictures is moving quickly on a fourth film with Josh Appelbaum and André Nemec (Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol) tapped to write the script.
The film is moving ahead because, as Deadline puts it, the pilot "drew enough attention to the franchise to spawn a new movie." No word on whether Jackson will be in the new film or if it will go solely with Murphy.
