Ryback's Character Desroyed or Not?

"Now don`t get me wrong.. I`m not at all a Ryback fan, but I can`t deny he was pretty over in late 2012. I just finished watching HITC and Survivor Series again where he main evented both for the WWE title, and MAN was he portrayed as a monster. After losing HITC via the Maddox low blow.. he destroys Punk on the cell, then at Survivor Series, it takes both Punk and Cena to get him out of the picture in the triple threat... Not only that, Cena, yes JOHN CENA took the pin and laid on the mat for about a minute, yes a FULL MINUTE before Punk covered him after the Shield debut.

He went from that... to jobbing to Cena and others, and stopping his match against the Miz? I mean C'mon..

Now I'm not a Ryback fan, but he was pretty destroyed/buried. And now its to the point where I don't know if that character can recover."

Thoughts?

They pummeled him when they made him job to Cena.

Ryback's character was pummeled way before that point.

And this is simply due to WWE not building these wrestlers up properly. Lack of clear direction killed him. They had to know he wasn't ready to go over for the WWE title (at the end of 2012) yet they put him in main-events for PPV's anyways. They never put him over and just left him to flounder in the main event scene for months

One example: after hyping him up as a credible WWE title contender, they then had him lose to Mark Henry, only to put him back in the WWE title picture w/ John Cena. Patience would have benefited everyone involved but the WWE are now paying for it by treating his character as a stopgap main eventer.

He would have been better suited if his character had a slow build.

there is always a chance to save a Character. What would be good will be have Ryback take some time off. Let the Fans get a break from him and try to forget the cryback shit. Then have him return in a big way by destroying people. Of course have weeks of build up promos before so.

Maybe he returns during a heel Orton match or segment. Maybe Orton is about to Punt DB or CM. Then Ryback comes out to make the save. He tosses Orton around like a rag doll, beating the fuck out of him. Orton barely gets away. Orton is scared shitless of Ryback as he gets away.

I've got to agree with Bull here, you can recover a character from just about anything, and that's what they have to do right now...

If they make him dominant, the bully gimmick could work as a bad guy. Especially with WWE's current fan-base.

They hardly knew what they were doing with Ryback before they even turned him heel. They need to fix Ryback, not just mix up his character until they think something might come out right. I agree they can fix the character, but they need to carefully think what steps they should take.

I like Bull's idea if they want him to turn face, but if WWE insists on pursuing a heel Ryback the current "bully" angle is probably the best way to go. I thought it worked well for him in the gauntlet match, so all he would need is to squash some guys like when he debuted and it will become credible. Give him a few key wins over some upper-midcard guys, and for crying out loud don't make him just another pussy heel.

That's true, though personally I don't think he needs to talk that much. The guy's really good with body language, little things like how confident he looked coming to beat up Daniel Bryan can do more for his character than many promos could.

If they can get him a manage that works for him, though, then more power to them. All they really need to do is be pickier with when the stick a mic in his face, though.
