It's been claimed on here over the years that when it comes to modern wrestling Cornette is out of touch. So I decided to see what new unknown talent he was bringing into Ring of Honor a decade ago.
Adam Cole
Adam Page
Bobby Fish
Caprice Coleman
Cedric Alexander
Kyle O'Reilly
Mike Bennett
Michael Elgin
Matt Taven
Tommaso Ciampa
QT Marshall
Four of those guy would go on to become champions in NXT and 3 of them part of the best stable in wrestling today. Six of them were signed by WWE. Two of them now work for AEW.
We didn't see what these guys were capable of and that includes me. I remember when Minkaro watched Tommaso Ciampa he said he was terrible and that shouldn't be too big of an indictment because Dave Meltzer said the same. It took a year for Mike Bennett to grow on me. For Cornette he doesn't look to getting just great wrestlers. As he puts it he looks for "puppies with big paws." As a booker he always looked at building future stars. So I'll thank him here for not only giving them the chance to shine but save my favorite promotion from going under that allowed these guys a platform to grow into the wrestlers they are today.
