All Elite Wrestling doesn't want to be an alternative to WWE but rather just do sports entertainment like them. Not only that but the promotion is a vanity project for a child of a billionaire. TNA did the Broken Matt Hardy shit and I called them a backyard promotion

Tony Khan is someone who actually cares about wrestling and is super passionate about it. It's not just some dude throwing around his rich dad's money.

And AEW wants to provide everything that wrestling encompasses. That includes sports entertainment, among all the other aspects you can find in different promotions. It's not just one thing or the other. It's everything together. That can include over the top, weird, goofy shit like Broken Matt and serious, athletically-focused matches, among other things.

Regardless, like it or not, the Broken Matt shit was super over in Impact. It was the only thing people were talking about for a while, as far as Impact goes. It had a very mixed reception, but it got people talking and while some hated it, some really loved it. If it has an audience, it belongs in AEW, because they want to give every type of wrestling audience something.

You can't give everyone something in anything or else most people are going to hate it. It works that way in not only media but life itself.

There's zero point in trying to have a serious sports based anything if you have people teleporting on your pro wrestling show. I realize that AEW is Teflon for some people and when WWE and TNA did this sort of thing they shit all over it.

And there's nothing that says a money mark isn't passionate about what he's doing. But the only promoter that had real long term success as a promoter without a background in pro wrestling in the last 100 years has been Jerry Jarrett.

And yet, AEW is doing exactly that and most people don't hate it.

I didn't like the teleporting thing, but plenty of people did. I did think it was a fun way to utilize the lack of a crowd that they're forced to have atm, though. And you say when WWE and TNA did this sort of thing, they were shit on for it, but again, Broken Matt was over as fuck in TNA. He was over to a lesser degree in WWE, since they had to tone it down a lot. The gimmick and what they did with it had people who hated it, but there was definitely enough people who loved it to make up for that. They even brought Broken Matt to ROH. The gimmick wouldn't have continued this long if it didn't have a substantial audience. And how many people love The Undertaker? He did shit just as bad as teleporting and his gimmick is considered one of the best of all time.

And don't forget that Tony has a group of veteran wrestlers (one of which is the son of Dusty Rhodes) working with him. He has a shit-ton of money and a passion for the business, but also help from people who know what they're doing.

TNA had plenty of veterans and they were not the people in power just like AEW.
