Vendetta returns from commercial break back to the arena as the fans are strongly anticipating what looks to be time for the main event of the evening between XWA heavyweight champion Hitman Alex and one half of the XWA tag team champions, Takumi Sanu.
Ted Cedar: “Welcome back folks! If any match can follow up the show that Razor Xtreme and Tyler Lawson just put up, it would have to be—“
Adam Dennis: “Dear Lord, what is this fairy doing out here?”
The GM of XWA’s music bursts through the speakers, bringing the fans to their feet, excited to see him for the first time tonight and knowing that he likely has a lot to say after his match last week. Surely enough, he makes his stage presence known as he walks out from the back and stands on top of the ramp to a chorus of cheers. He is clad in blue jeans, a novelty Caleb Spires t-shirt(available at XWAShop.com), and topped off with a light over jacket. The look on his face is not that much of a pissed off look. Of course, he isn’t happy either, but he does not appear to be as angry as he has been in past weeks. He makes his way down to the ring with a microphone in one hand and a clipboard in the other, limping the whole way down.
Ted Cedar: “If you missed it last week, Caleb Spires was in an elimination chamber qualifying match against long-time rival David Michaels. He came up short in his match after JHalc---“
Adam Dennis: “He came up short because he didn’t perform as well as Michaels! Michaels used strategy, he used intelligence, he used---“
Ted Cedar: “JHalc.”
Adam Dennis: “JHalc was part of that strategy! Caleb knows that you gotta do what you gotta do to win. I may not like Michaels, but at least his win is keeping Spires out of the elimination chamber that he doesn’t deserve to be in.”
While Dennis rants and raves about The Elite One for God-knows-what-reason, Spires is near ringside, sliding into the ring with a microphone still gripped firmly in his hand. His music dies down as he gets to his feet and brings the microphone up to his face. Before he begins talking, he gives his fans a chance to die down so that he can speak.
Caleb Spires: “There is a lot that I could say about last week. I could complain that David didn’t earn his win. I could complain that JHalc cost me the match, while I have never had any problem with him. But that really doesn’t concern me at the moment. JHalc and I may seldom meet in the ring, but we know each other well enough to the point that he knows that eventually, he will get his comeuppance.”
The verbal threat dedicated toward The Jack of Hearts gets a loud reception from the crowd who would love to see an eventual match between Spires and JHalc.
Caleb Spires: “Regardless, that is for a different date. I’m really not as concerned about him at the moment as you might believe. What I am concerned about, is dealing with something that has been causing me distress for far too long now. I am of course talking about our Chief Operating Officer, Smoke Xtreme.”
Just the mention of that horrid name has little children tearing up and grown men cursing the name thrown forth. Most people just boo it though.
Caleb Spires: “I would like to request that if Smoke Xtreme has even the slightest amount of balls that he come out right now and we can have our first civil, man-to-man conversation. Nobody in the ring with me, nobody with you. Do we have a deal?”
The Inspiring puts his hands to the side, shrugging, as if to imply “it’s up to you.” Of course, Smoke doesn’t come out as he realizes that with the short history between the two, it might lead to Caleb losing his cool and unleashing on him. About ten seconds go by, and there is still no sign of Xtreme.
Caleb Spires: “Come on out, boy. No tricks, just a nice conversation. You don’t even have to come down to the ring. Just stand on the ramp and we can say what we need to say.”
Another silence soon follows as Caleb stands in the center of the ring, waiting for Smoke to come out. Eventually, his music hits and the fans begin their loud jeering.
It is a well-known fact that the Chief Operating Officer isn’t the most beloved person within the Vendetta roster, but if you had any doubts about that, then the fans are giving you any reassurance that you might have needed. Smoke enters plain view with an arrogant smirk on his face and he stands at the top of the ramp with a microphone in his hand, staring down Caleb in the ring. Surprisingly enough, he has come to the ramp without Reiko or Scorpion.
Caleb Spires: “Nice to see you decided to man up for once Smoke.”
Smoke Xtreme: “Do you have anything important to say to me Spires? Otherwise, I don’t see it fit on wasting my time on you. You have until 10 seconds to explain to me why I should even be out here.”
Caleb Spires: “I’m out here because I have a proposition for you.”
The term ‘proposition’ makes Smoke raise his eyebrows and gives a weird look to The Elite One.
Smoke Xtreme: “What do you mean by a ‘proposition?’”
Caleb Spires: “It’s quite simple really. You see, this has been going on for about 3 months. I try to go on with my life without any dicks getting involved with my business, and you try to find some was to be a dick and get involved with my business. If not for you, I would have beaten E.G. Deal in the Vendetta World Title tournament and I would the XWA heavyweight champion right now. You’ve been at my throat for being a GM and a wrestler for too long now and quite frankly, I’m getting sick of it.”
Smoke Xtreme: “I’m not hearing any propositions. So either you cut to the point or I’m getting the hell out of here. I have far more valuable things to do with my time than talk to you and bask in the presence of all these morons.”
Cheap heel heat, nothing can beat it.
Caleb Spires: “That’s what I’m getting to. There is probably no way for me to get you to leave me alone as long as I am the general manager for Vendetta. You’ll continue to be a thorn in my side as long as I am going against your power and enforcing my own. Which is why I have this contract…”
The general manager draws more attention to the clipboard in his hand and turns it to the camera so that all of the fans can see what is attached to it.
Caleb Spires: “I had ‘my people’ write up this contract last night stating that after King of Xtreme, I will be released of my managerial duties.”
Smoke Xtreme: “Praise the Lord. Sign the damn thing, get out of the ring, and stop wasting the time slot.”
Caleb Spires: “Oh Smoke… You didn’t really think it would be that easy did you?”
This causes Smoke to roll his eyes and take a deep breath before exhaling. Shaking his head, he retorts.
Smoke Xtreme: “What’s the catch?”
Caleb Spires: “If you remember last week, I became ineligible for the elimination chamber match at King of Xtreme. Because of this, I am left without a match on the King of Xtreme card. That’s where you come into play, Smoke. All I need is one match with you. One match and I will be off of the Vendetta staff and out of your life for good. If you agree to this match, I will sign the contract right now and taking effect after our match I will no longer be the general manager. What do you say?”
The fans are delighted to hear about a match where they would all get to watch Spires beat the holy hell out of Smoke Xtreme and begin cheering for the thought of it. Smoke looks around the arena as shifty as you could imagine and gives his response.
Smoke Xtreme: “You want a match with ME? A match against ME at King of Xtreme? Well hate to break it to you Spires, but it’s not going to happen.”
As expected, all of the pop that the match was getting turns into a sea of hatred directed toward none other than the COO of XWA turning down the match. His only response is yelling for them to “SHUT THE HELL UP.”
Smoke Xtreme: “You guys don’t know what is best for business! If I agreed to this match with Caleb, he would try his hardest to cripple me and make sure I was out for good like the cheap bastard he is. That would be terrible for Vendetta and I cannot risk that maniac trying to put me on the shelf.”
Caleb Spires: “I can’t say I didn’t expect this… I know you all too well Smoke. I know that you are a spineless, gutless little worm. Every chance you get, you will try to weasel your way out of whatever hole you have dug yourself into, because you are too much of a pussy to fight your own battles. You aren’t accepting a match with me because you KNOW I will beat you and your ego won’t allow you to have that loss to me on your record. You’re absolutely pathetic. You don’t belong in XWA.”
The words from The Elite One are clearly getting to Smoke Xtreme, whose face is getting redder by the second and continues to do so until he finally explodes.
Smoke Xtreme: “Why don’t you shut your fucking mouth?!”
Caleb Spires: “Why don’t you make me? Come on, Smoke. JUST. ONE. MATCH.”
In his rampage, he blurts out without even thinking…
Smoke Xtreme: “You want a match against me at King of Xtreme? You REALLY want your legacy destroyed by someone who isn’t even a full time wrestler? If that’s what you’re asking for, you got it!”
The fans blow the roof off of the place. Not because they like Smoke, but because they are awaiting his ass beating of a life time at King of Xtreme.
Smoke Xtreme: “But if we are doing this match, we are doing it MY way. I make the rules and you can’t change them. It will be Smoke Xtreme vs. Caleb Spires one on one with no count outs, no disqualifications. The match will be no holds barred. At King of Xtreme, I am going to teach you that crossing my path was the biggest mistake you ever made when I beat you within an inch of your life. You don’t know what you just got yourself into!”
Finally getting the go-ahead from Smoke brings a wide grin across the face of Spires who reaches into his jacket pocket and pulls out a pen, which he uses to sign his name on a dotted line, signing his resignation as general manager to go in effect after his match with Smoke Xtreme. He drops the contract in the middle of the ring and gets the last word in.
Caleb Spires: “See you at King of Xtreme, Smoke.”
He then drops the microphone as his music begins playing again and he shows starts exiting the ring as he interacts with the fans. Meanwhile, the announcers talk about this fiasco.
Ted Cedar: “There you have it folks. The long-awaited rivalry between Spires and Xtreme is finally going to culminate in a no holds barred match in exchange for Caleb’s general manager position.”
Adam Dennis: “This is an awful decision by Caleb Spires!”
Ted Cedar: “How do you find this to be a mistake Dennis?”
Adam Dennis: “Smoke is on top of the company! He can get anyone he wants to help him out just like that. Spires agreeing to a no holds barred match is basically sealing his death wish.”

Very nice man! Simple, classic yet effective. It's always nice to read a Caleb Spires promo and this storyline appears to have got pretty deep now, so I'm glad it's culminating in a match for you guys.
Totally didn't expect Caleb to quit his position. I thought he'd be forced to put it on the line or something and be fired if he lost lol.

I thought about doing that, but if I end up winning, I'd still be in the GM spot. I want out of it.
