As we have already mentioned, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter noted on Twitter recently that WWE was reaching out to “lots of 40+ year old guys” to return to fill out the roster for the upcoming WWE brand split. According to a new report by Forbes, four names that have been contacted so far include Kurt Angle, Jeff Hardy, Rey Mysterio and Goldberg.

The report goes on to say that WWE wants to bring Angle back to Smackdown, and that there have been talks of using him with NXT tag team American Alpha. Other names WWE is apparently interested in include Carlito, John Morrison, JTG, Shad Gaspard and Shelton Benjamin.

While Forbes is generally a credible source for information, take this report with a grain of salt until it is confirmed by additional sources. While it does happen in wrestling, generally through “unofficial” channels, WWE may not even be able to legally reach out to Hardy and Mysterio, who are currently under exclusive contracts with TNA and Lucha Underground, respectively.

Kurt shouldn't be wrestling.

Kurt Angle - as an authority figure or manager, even as a commentator? Fuck yeah!
Jeff Hardy - he's got a few matches in him, but if he doesn't change his behaviour idk... I don't see him as a main eventer anymore, sadly.
Rey Mysterio - If they add the cruiserweight championship, yeah seems fair. When he left, no one gave a fuck.
Goldberg - he looks in shape, considering the latest appearances of his. It'd be nice to have him returning and being "that" veteran, maybe give him a title run if he's able to endure 5-15 minute matches.
Carlito - Always said this'd be an amazing return. Both him and John Morrison are awesome performers overall. JTG and Shad Gaspard, having them as Cryme Tyme again? Funny segments, why not?
And well... Shelton Benjamin is an awesome talent. With a decent manager he'd be a nice face for Smackdown!.

They're trying to sell this as "the new era", but then try to bring these old geezers back?

These potentially returning are jizz worthy. The only ones I wouldn't care for are Mysterio & Morrison but it'd still be nice to see them return anyway.
