| Used to.
Knee injury and heart problems forced me to hang up my helmet and return to the 911 Center. |

| What's your profession now that you've stepped away from public safety? You into law enforcement now? |

| I'm still in Public Safety. I've had to return to being a 911 Dispatcher due to a knee injury and heart problems.
The agency I'm with is technically a law enforcement agency, and my wife is a Deputy Sheriff. |

| How would you describe your fitness for your profession? Are you fat, muscular, skinny? Are you attractive? Do you have a bowl cut or buzz cut? What's your opinion on patch collecting & public safety photographers? Is this a legit job? Should I look into it? What's your opinion on people who go around to claiming something they're really not? Ever come across any of those people? Is honesty a good trait to have in law enforcement? |

How would you describe your fitness for your profession? Are you fat, muscular, skinny? Are you attractive? Do you have a bowl cut or buzz cut? I'm quite fit. I'm definitely a bit on the muscular side. I have a buzz cut, from my days in the military. What's your opinion on patch collecting & public safety photographers? Is this a legit job? Should I look into it? Patch collecting and public safety photography are more of hobbies than actual careers. They can both be very rewarding hobbies. I highly suggest one of them if you're looking into a career in the public safety field, especially photography. It gets you known around your community. You can also try looking into Ride Alongs with your local Police, Sheriff, Fire, or EMS Department. What's your opinion on people who go around to claiming something they're really not? Ever come across any of those people? I haven't personally come across any of these people, but a guy claiming to be a Florida State Trooper pulled my wife over on State Road 60 in Hillsborough County, Florida, about eight months ago. Little did the imposter know, she was already on the phone with the Highway Patrol... Is honesty a good trait to have in law enforcement? Honesty is probably the BEST trait you can have in law enforcement. Compassion and an ability to listen to people when they're having their worst days are also good traits to have. |

| What branch of the military did you serve in? Where all were you posted?
Tell me a good firefighting story -- about putting out a fire.
Has your wife ever shot anyone on duty? Or otherwise? (g) |

Has your wife ever shot anyone on duty? Or otherwise? (g) What branch of the military did you serve in? Where all were you posted? I served in both the Army and the Air Force. I was stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky; I've been to Afghanistan, Iraq, Britain, Germany, Russia, and a few other spots I can't mention. Tell me a good firefighting story -- about putting out a fire. Unfortunately, due to The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) Privacy, Security and Breach Notification Rules, I can't tell you about any kind of residential or commercial fires. The reason being, 85% of the time, these things turn into medical emergencies. I can't even talk about incidents that have happened in the station. Has your wife ever shot anyone on duty? Or otherwise? Yes to on duty; no to off duty. |

| There is one.
A rookie firefighter was giving the Engine the pre-shift lookover. The dumbass decided to take a look at the engine compartment. He didn't bother to ask anyone for a flashlight to see better under the cab. Instead, he lights a match, forgets about it when he puts the cab back upright, and Hiroshima hits five minutes later...
Needless to say, that's one probie who didn't make it past his third shift. |

The best thing about what I do is I get to help people when they're at their worst. And there are a few folks here who do get on my nerves. |

| OK, this is one you can answer as it has nothing to do with your work.
You seem like a workout guy and I was wondering how you motivate yourself to make time (and the effort) when things are very busy.
I did a good job from July through probably October and things got busy at work and I'd miss a day here or there, then a few days here or there and then ... nothing. It seems like I when I get in a groove the momentum carries me but I have trouble when my forward progress gets interrupted.
I'm starting back today and so far so good. Should be smooth sailing schedule-wise until I have a road trip from late December through early January, and I can do a little while I'm on the road.
So the question is how do you motivate yourself? How do you make time? How do you keep it up when you can't make it an everyday thing? |
