Marvel Studios has confirmed that the Wasp will actually appear in Ant-Man after all.

President Kevin Feige has said that founding Avengers member Janet van Dyne will make her cinematic debut in Peyton Reed's upcoming movie.

"She factors in a number of spoiler-ish ways," he told MTV.

"But we will see Janet van Dyne in action in this film, and sort of what happened to her."

Fans were disappointed to learn that Evangeline Lilly would not play the classic superhero, but instead her daughter Hope van Dyne with Michael Douglas's Hank Pym.

The Wasp and Pym (as Ant-Man) were on the original Avengers lineup in 1963 with Iron Man, Thor and the Hulk.

Paul Rudd will star as new Ant-Man Scott Lang in the film, which will be released on July 17.
