"Give us the God of Mischief!" - they cried.
In the latest in a string of online movie-related petitions, Tom Hiddleston fans have taken to the interwebz to petition Marvel Studios for a standalone Loki movie, EW reports. Well, the petition, "Free Loki," actually began in July after Hiddleston's very well-received appearance at Comic-Con. It is now nearing its 20,000 signature goal.
Loki was of course the villain in Thor and The Avengers, and is set to reprise his mischievous role in the upcoming Thor: The Dark World.
"We feel Loki…due to the astounding following both the character and actor have earned as a result of the Marvel films, more than warrants further exploration of his story,” the petition attests. “We believe such an endeavor would not only be profitable and successful, but provide a larger view for general audiences of the incredibly complex and diverse personality a well-known villain of the Marvel universe is gifted with."
We know that Loki will not be appearing in Avengers: Age of Ultron, and if that Comic-Con footage is anything to go by, it doesn't seem like he will be turning over a new leaf to become a hero anytime soon. Though, you never know with the God of Mischief...A breakout character in Thor, Marvel is well-aware of Hiddleston/Loki's following. Hey, they've even added a bit more of him to The Dark World. So as to a Loki standalone movie, well, stranger things have happened.
If one were to go into production, what do you think the story should be?
Oh, and if you're so inclined, you can sign the petition HERE.
