FIFA is to announce a new system of match observers to monitor incidents of racism and discrimination at World Cup qualifiers in the build up to the 2018 tournament in Russia.

Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure, who suffered racist abuse while playing against CSKA Moscow in the Champions League, will be present at the launch at Wembley Stadium on Tuesday.

The observers will be trained to spot incidents of discrimination and report them to FIFA, which can then impose disciplinary sanctions on the countries involved.

Host country Russia has said it will tackle racism in its football - some 200 racist incidents were committed by Russian fans between 2012 and 2014 according to a recent report by the Sova Center, a Moscow-based racism-monitoring group.

FIFA president Sepp Blatter has said "a lot of work needs to be done" to combat the incidents.

The project follows recommendations of the FIFA anti-discrimination task force and is being implemented in collaboration with the European anti-discrimination body FARE.

Former World Cup referee Howard Webb and FARE's executive director Piara Powar, who are both members of the FIFA task force, will also be present at the launch.

I'm waiting for them to launch an anti-slavery initiative. Oh wait they use slave labor. I won't hold my breath for that one. These FIFA cunts should save it, they're one of the most grotesque organizations in the world. But they're anti-racist.

Turns out that the FBI is after that ass now, so that probably explains why the U.S. didn't get to host the WC Russia was given, or the next one after that. Also explains why Blatter hasn't stepped foot on US soil since like 2011.

When Peter Odemwingie (Nigerian) was sold to West Brom by Lokomotiv Moscow, their fans had a banner saying "thanks West Brom," with a banana on it.

And then there's the group of Zenit supporters who wrote to the club to ask them not to let black or gay players play.

What are FIFA doing to prevent the racism in Russia? Monitoring it? What's that going to do to the World Cup there? If there's a racism incident, they're not going to move the World Cup. They're not going to sanction Russia. All they're doing is saying "please stop being racist," which isn't going to work.

If the Russian fans, and Russian clubs, and Russian FA know that they've got the World Cup anyway, they're not going to bother doing anything. They might say they will, but really if there's a racist incident before the World Cup, they're going to say "oh, very sorry, won't happen again, see you in 2018" and ignore it.

If FIFA actually wanted to punish them, they'd say "right, any racism gets reported, and is proven, then we're moving the World Cup, and you're not part of it." They won't, though, because Russia's got it, and that's written in stone.

Tbh, if it were me I'd refuse to go and play there. If I were a non-white footballer, why would I subject myself to that sort of abuse?

The first and only thing they should do right now is have that useless fuck step down as president. I can't take any organisation seriously that investigates itself and then, not-so-shockingly, finds itself utterly innocent of literally everything, blaming every other party in the process <_<
