Apart from Mayweather being a lil bitch, he also has a good defense, and can punish people with counter punching. So you can't just go all out against him. Plus he was running around and hugging Pacquiao every time he would start punishing him.

His tactic seemed to be running, hugging, getting cornered a lot, talk smack, punch low, hugging, hugging and hugging. He did land a few blows in sparingly between rounds, but I think he had to hold back from unleashing more as Manny recovered too quickly like a boss.

The fight was quite lame to be honest. 12 rounds of a few jabs and grabs. With the occasional combo every now and then.

That was his tactic. That is what I mean by free-ride the system. Boxing in the way Floyd does it is not marketable. He fights defensively. If you beat his reach he hugs you. If you can beat his reach without having to lunge, he won't fight you. He has a defensive stance, forces you to lunge, and counter jabs. That's it. He can't lose against smaller competitors and he won't fight larger ones that don't have known weaknesses he can exploit.

Floyd "won" the boxing match but lost the "fight." That is why no one cares about boxing and no one will ever care about boxing again. The lowest common denominator IS the defensive style. If anyone does it, they WILL win their fights. If everyone does it, no one will watch.
