According to PWInsider.com, while WWE was pushing hard to induct Kevin Nash into the Hall of Fame as Diesel, Nash remained adamant that he wanted to be inducted under his real name.
Nash reportedly wanted to be able to use the added credibility of being a WWE Hall of Famer to help his other projects, so he wanted to be inducted by his real name, which he uses in the entertainment industry.
Additionally, it’s being said Nash did not want to be inducted as Diesel because Diesel was one of the worst drawing WWE Champions in company history, and he didn’t want to be celebrated as Diesel.
In related news, WWE officials were said to be unhappy with some of Kevin Nash’s Hall of Fame speech, particularly when he brought up guaranteed contracts revolutionizing the business. The feeling back then was that WCW was trying to put WWE out of business and because Vince took it personal at the time, Nash’s speech brought up a lot of old angry feelings on one of the most special nights of the year.
