As noted, due to Eddie Edwards suffering a heel injury, The Wolves were forced to vacate the TNA Tag Team Titles.

Over the weekend, at TNA’s Impact Wrestling tapings in Orlando, a tournament began to crown new tag champions.

Last night, an Ultimate X match was held featuring The Hardy Boyz vs Kenny King and Low Ki vs Bram and EC3 vs Austin Aries and Bobby Roode.

Matt and Jeff Hardy won the bout to become the new TNA Tag Team Champions.

Well they were the only real tag team in the match.

Bobby and A-Double are a tag team

and are former tag team champions

Yeah but how often do they team together? I think they would have been the better champions. But I think TNA has been booking Bobby Roode as a main event singles guy.

Well it's the hardy's, it was only a matter of time til TNA put the belts on them.

Yeah, this makes sense. If you need to put a title on somebody in an emergency, put it on somebody risk free, and the Hardys are pretty much that (provided Jeff stays away from various substances). Hardys are over anyway, so them holding the title as a transitional thing isn't going to hurt them, whereas a less established tag team might be damaged by only holding the belts a short time.

Plus Roode and Aries have been top singles guys for a long while now and I think they wore out their gimmick when they were champions. No need to make them go back down that route just for sake of it, really. Putting the belts on the Hardy's is a good move; they haven't won them before, so they can make a big deal out of it.
