XWA Formula 1 Prediction Game - Season 2015

Welcome to the inaugural XWA Formula 1 Prediction Game!

The XWA Formula 1 Prediction Game is a prediction league covering the Formula 1 World Championship season, where participants pick the results of each race and gain points based on the results. The game takes place over a course of an entire season and anyone can join in at any point during that season. Of course, anyone taking part from the start, has a better chance of winning, but the entire season consists of 20 rounds in total so even later comers will still have a great chance of winning!

This thread shall be used as the "hub" for the season, where championship results are kept tally off and so will the scoring. Chat is also welcome! Threads for race predictions shall be made during the week building up to the next grand prix.

Dominance from Hamilton, .600 faster than Nico. Brilliant.

Impressive from Riccardo too considering his engine troubles through the free practice sessions. That being said, the Red Bulls are certainly lacking the pace of the Ferrari's and the Williams' this weekend.

Good to see Lotus back in Q3, they seem to have made some progress over the off-season. They should see some points this weekend as long as Grosjean and Maldonado resist the urge to take somebody out Funny

I think the less that is said about McLaren the better.

"Valtteri Bottas is a doubt for the Australian Grand Prix after suffering back pain during qualifying and being taken to hospital for further checks on Saturday evening.

Bottas felt pain in his back while braking during the second session of qualifying and it is not yet clear how serious the issue is. The team will make a call on his fitness ahead of the race on Sunday, but the injury could see him and the No.77 Williams miss the race.

I hope will be able to race, the Williams' look to be in good contention for a podium. Unfortunately if Bottas is ruled out, Williams wouldn't be able to substitute Sussie Wolff into the race because she hasn't driven during a session this weekend.

I knew I should have picked Hamilton for Qualy Shaking Head

And if Maldonando doesn't wipe half the field out on the first corner, Lotus can consider that a good weekend Funny

This first qualifying has certainly changed my mind on a few things.

Well my guessing was horrible this race. All the retirements and non starters didn't help that! Lets hope I improve a bit next time haha

There was a lot of drama at the start with Magnussen & Kvyat not even starting the race.
I was disappointed when Verstappen retired. It'd have been nice for him to have scored some points on his debut. And the Kimi situation was just bad. I could see the mechanic waving like mad before he left the pits. But it just goes to show no matter how much practice you do, anything can go wrong.

Big props goes to Sauber though fair play to them for both getting points today after all the drama coming into this weekend.

And I think Hamilton is going to destroy this season, even more so than last.

Neither Lotus completed a lap. Standard.

Interesting to see that Horner is already calling for regulations changes to 'rein in Mercedes'. Although I'm sure we'd all love to see a more even field, it seems somewhat hypocritical coming from Horner considering that Seb and Red Bull won 4 in a row with similar dominance to that of Mercedes.

Well even Red Bull were never this far ahead on the track and usually still had to be kept honest for the victory, but totally he's hypocritical. But that's F1. One race half the field can be moaning about an illegal front wing, the next they've all got one of their own lol.

He wants to ban wind tunnels or something, which is idiotic.

Interesting to see how this plays out. I think it's fairly reasonable to say that F1 needs Red Bull, given their financial commitment to the sport in a time where people aren't exactly throwing money at it. Saying that, the F1 front office can't just buckle to their demands because they're losing. Mercedes are kicking ass because they've figured it all out and have a killer setup, it's not really fair to them.

They ain't leaving, it's obviously a media thing, yeah...just trying to ruffle some feathers. But hypothetically speaking, I presume they could sell up and leave that way rather than pay an enormous fee for walking out.

I think F1 needs all it's teams right now. It really didn't seem to care about Marussia and Caterham. They need to start giving more of a damn about the teams tbh...doesn't mean they need to cater to Red Bull whenever it isn't going their way, finances or not.

Besides, they've all agreed to new regulations again soon in the next few years...or at least agreed to try and go that direction. I imagine Mercedes dominance won't last forever.

I think I heard during the weekend that new regulations are scheduled to come into effect for the 2017 season.

Yeah, I think that's what I heard. They tried to push it through to next season, but some teams were against it.
