Last night on Monday Night RAW from Nashville, Tennessee, the absence of one man raised a lot of eyebrows. As reported prior to the event, WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman were set to address 2015 Royal Rumble winner Roman Reigns. However, only Heyman made an appearance in a promo segment with Reigns.

Which raised the question, why did the champion not make an appearance? There is more to the story than meets the eye.

For starters, Heyman tweeted out the night before that he and his client were due to appear on RAW.

"Congratulations @WWERomanReigns. @WWE Champ @BROCKLESNAR and I will address this tomorrow on #RAW" tweeted by @HeymanHustle

Besides Heyman, the WWE’s social media accounts were promoting an appearance from both the Advocate and the Beast as late as 7:30 pm.

And, much like his tweet indicated, LordsOfPain.net confirmed that Lesnar was indeed backstage at last nights broadcast. Therefore, if he was backstage, why did the company elect not to have him appear on television to promote the main event bout at Wrestleamania? Although no definite answers exist, there appears to be some sort of rift between WWE and Lesnar.

In the same report, LOP mentioned that Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer heard that there is a lot more to the story than meets the eye with Lesnar. Whatever the issue is, WWE officials reportedly don’t want news of the issue being leaked to the public. Simply put, Meltzer stated that “something happened” at the RAW taping.

From the looks of it, this isn’t a simple misunderstanding or small tiff, but rather a legitimate problem. The road to Wrestlemania is entering the home stretch and to not have your champion appear, when he’s backstage nonetheless sounds troubling.

There have been a flurry of rumors suggesting that Lesnar’s run with the company could come to a close at Wrestlemania. A return to the sport of MMA has been the biggest rumor with a return to UFC being likely. However, it’s not Wrestlemania yet and Lesnar still has to get to the grandest stage of them all. Also, Lesnar appears infrequently as is, which makes him not appearing on RAW leading up to Wrestlemania more questionable.

Since returning to WWE in 2012, reports have described Lesnar as easy to work with. However, he’s a big money athlete who wrestles to line his pockets. Could the issue be a monetary one? It’s certainly plausible and if it is, WWE needs to do what is necessary to get Lesnar to Wrestlemania and deal with any issues at that point.

So, Rumor has it, and take it with a grain of salt until verified by a reputable source, that Lesnar left because Reigns popped positive on a drugs test, but WWE won't suspend him.

Apparently Lesnar feels if he fights Roman at Mania, and the news leaks, it will taint him with the 'Guilty By Association' drugs brush right before he tries to go back to UFC.

According to The Wrestling Observer, Brock Lesnar was backstage at Raw in Nashville this week when the show started, but left before the show was over after a dispute with WWE officials.

Specifically, Lesnar was in a meeting with Vince McMahon about contract renegotiations, and he became upset during the meeting which is why he decided to leave.

There is speculation that terms of Lesnar’s new WWE contract included him being able to fight for UFC while under contract with WWE, however it’s being said that aspect of his deal was not the source of Lesnar’s unhappiness. Lesnar’s issues Monday night specifically had to do with the new deal offered by WWE, and it had nothing to do with UFC or current or future WWE creative plans.

As of today, the issue between Lesnar and WWE has not been resolved, but it could get resolved any day now. Lesnar will fulfill the rest of the dates on his WWE deal, which is why the WrestleMania main event is not in jeopardy, as missing his dates could result in breach of contract.

Brock Lesnar’s remaining WWE dates include the March 9th Raw in Pittsburgh, the March 23rd Raw in Los Angeles, WrestleMania 31 and then Raw the day after WrestleMania.

You know Lesner can bitch but he has not been drawing in the number WWE needs for The Network. It's stupid to pay him more now that you can decide to cancel at the end of any month.

I think it would be awesome if he went into business for himself.
