| He's not going to win the US Title. He's going to lose or have some dusty finish at Fast Lane, then in the TV leading up he'll cost Rusev the title against some wank competitor... maybe R-Truth. |

Yes, his status has elevated since then.
But if he were to win, it won't elevate the belt or anything. It'll simply give him more days held and more accolades to make him THE #1 SUPERSTAR OF ALLLLLLL TIIIIIIIMEEEEEEEEEEEEE. |

Cena held WWE's secondary World Title and it didn't make it any more prestigious or important. |

| Except... it's not such a crazy idea.
Fact: WWE is trying to give the spotlight to someone else (Roman Reigns). So that implies Cena might not be in the title scene anymore. Having already been an established superstar, if he's US Champion, then he can work with midcarders to make them better. |
