In a post on Twitter, former WWE creative team member Brian Maxwell Mann said that Daniel Bryan’s character was set to come out as gay during his “love triangle” with the Bella Twins. WWE and the USA Network wanted to show a positive gay character. The storyline would end with Bryan revealing he was gay. Instead, he ended up turning down the Bellas for months just to reveal he was dating Gail Kim.

FUN FACT: In 2010, USA wanted WWE to introduce a positive gay character. The Bryan/Bellas triangle was supposed to lead to DB coming out.

Eh... other than being awkward once they started revealing his real life relationships, I don't think this would've really affected him too much. That is, assuming by "positive gay character" they mean the complete opposite of Orlando Jordon in TNA.

If the Olympics had a backpedaling event, Brian Maxwell Mann would be a gold medalist.

Haha, well, there you go.

Personally, though, I would like to see a positive gay character done at some point. By that I mean someone who is out and gay, but doesn't fondle their opponents or do comedy bits about being gay, but is just someone on the roster who happens to be gay.

I suppose for now Darren Young is the best thing we've got, since we all know his orientation and WWE never does anything to show that his character is straight. Too bad he only gets on TV when the whole roster's out there, like for John Cena's apology recently.
