- It was announced at the Smackdown taping (via PWInsider) that the 2015 Royal Rumble will be getting an upgrade. WWE announced that the show will feature forty men instead of the usual thirty. This is only the second time in history that the match has had this many competitors; the last time was 2011 when Alberto Del Rio won.

The show will take place on January 24th in Philadelpha, with tickets going on sale Friday.

Means there is room for some NXT guys!

The 2011 one wasn't very good and I'm not sure if it was 100% based on the fact there were TOO many competitors but still, good to see another with 40.

It was nice to try it once. But seriously don't do it again. It was overkill the last time, not that many surprise returns, and pretty much fell flat. If any NXT guys enter the rumble it will most likely just be 3-5, which you can have with a normal rumble.
