George Clooney is to direct a new movie based on the News International phone hacking scandal.
The upcoming film has been inspired by the book 'Hack Attack' by Nick Davies, who investigated the controversy that led to the closure of the News of the World.
Clooney, who is also producing the film alongside Grant Heslov and Michael De Luca, said: ''This has all the elements - lying, corruption, blackmail - at the highest levels of government by the biggest newspaper in London.
''And the fact that it's true is the best part. Nick is a brave and stubborn reporter and we consider it an honour to put his book to film.''
The movie will be of particular interest to Clooney as his dad, George, was a noted journalist and politician.
Meanwhile, it was reported recently that Clooney has ''impressed'' Amal Alamuddin's friends with his dedication to their upcoming wedding.
A source told E! News that the 53-year-old actor has ''been very hands-on'' ahead of their special day and is overseeing most of the last minute details.
The couple are set to tie the knot later this month.
