As we noted yesterday, Alberto Del Rio, who is now using the ring name El Patron in Mexico, has been doing media promoting his appearance at today’s TripleMania event.

During the media appearances, Del Rio a backstage incident did take place in WWE during which he struck another WWE employee, and this lead to his release from the company. Additionally, Del Rio noted he has been banned from wrestling in the U.S. for one year, due to the terms of his WWE release.

Del Rio also confirmed, according to PWInsider.com, that because of the incident, he will not be receiving his severance pay from WWE as he waits out his no-compete contract with the company.
