In the Fede Alvarez-directed 2013 remake/sequel Evil Dead, Jane Levy was introduced to horror audiences as Mia, a complimentary female version of Ash (played by Bruce Campbell). They were rumored to come face-to-face is a potential sequel, which was announced at the 2013 SXSW Film Festival where the film premiered.
Now, more than a year later, Sam Raimi announced at the San Diego Comic-Con that he and his brother are developing an “Evil Dead” television series, which would star Campbell as Ashley J. Williams, loyal S-Mart employee.
What does this mean for the long-gestured Evil Dead sequel? According to Levy, it probably won’t happen.
“I don’t think they’re gonna make it,” she tells AITH. “I mean, they’re always coming up with a new thing- now I hear they’re making a TV show. I was like, what? [Laughs]
“I honestly don’t know,” she continued, “but it doesn’t seem like there’s going to be an EVIL DEAD 2 anytime soon. At least, not with me in it.”
Something of important note is that she acknowledges that Raimi and company enjoy fucking with us. No joke.
“I think they just like exciting their fans and confusing them.”
Sure, poke a bear, see what happens.
