We’ve known for a while now that The Rock was confirmed to play a DC Comics character in an unknown 2016 film – with rumors spanning back almost two years – but earlier this week Hercules himself stated that it would be a hero (or villian) “with the power of Superman”.

The running speculation is that Dwayne Johnson has landed the role of Shazam (formerly Captain Marvel) for an upcoming Warner Bros. project, and after a tweet from The Rock earlier today, the “Great One” has all but confirmed it to be true. It’s worth pointing out that Black Adam – Shazam’s greatest foe – has also been rumored, and the two definitely share some visual characteristics.

Awww that'd be amazing! I thought he would play a sweet Darkseid considering how big he is, but Shazam or Black Adam would be awesome. Black Adam is one of my favorite DC villains.

Good for him. He's definitely the Most Electrifying Man in all of Entertainment. I dig his movies so wouldn't mind him landing more especially in comic book related/action movies.

I'm still not sold on him as an actor. He beter do good or I'll layeth the smacketh down on him myself!

Oh really? A good chunk of MMA fighters that train daily for the sport, almost never have a successful career or hell, a career at all. Why do you think boxers never transition over into MMA, it's because they would probably get their asses kicked. Why do you think football players and every other athlete that tries doing MMA almost fails right away. Its not as easy as you think it is.

It depends on when he got started in MMA. Rich Franklin was a High School teacher and got hooked on the UFC and decided to start training. He got in shape, trained, took MMA classes and eventually became the UFC Middleweight Champion. The Rock seems to have been a better athlete in his younger years than Rich when he started out, so it could have very well turned out good for ole Rocky.

The only cross over athletes that have made an impact in the MMA have been ex professional wreslters (Brock and Bobby), they just couldn't stick with it for the long haul. Not near enough money in it.
