After the Rob Chapman vs. The Pirate match, the Vendetta broadcast turns backstage to Greg Samuel who wears his traditional entrance attire, the blue vest with a hood that is down, and the black baggy shorts that run to his knee. Greg has a smile on his face, despite being extremely sore after the beating he took last week in his victory against DC Hennig. Greg has the right to be smile, regardless of the pain, after the great match he put on. “The Maine Attraction” is leaning up against a crate that the arena set-up is usually carried in.
GREG SAMUEL: “You know, I do love the Kansas weather!”
This statement gets the cheap pop it is intended to from the live crowd in Topeka.
GREG SAMUEL: “I really wish I could be here in a body that is a little less battered, but you aren’t going to catch me complaining. Last week, I faced a man that you may have heard of. I took on DC Hennig. He was a great competitor and if you had told me that I was going to come back to this company, and face an absolute LEGEND of the business in my third match. I would have told you you’re nuts! But it happened and I managed to sneak away with what I consider to be the GREATEST VICTORY OF MY CAREER! And you better believe I am extremely grateful. Mr. Phenomenal, wherever you are right now, we killed it last week, thank you for that!”
The crowd in Topeka has no choice but to applaud Samuel as he is obviously delivering this entire speech straight from the heart. Greg smile a humble smile before continuing his speech.
GREG SAMUEL: “But I want to change the focus. Tonight, round two of the Intercontinental Championship tournament. Mack, I have to say, we’ve had our encounters in the passed. You’re 2-0 in matches against me, and that’s an interesting statistic. Here is another statistic, five. Five is the number of other competitors that have been in those matches. Match one, a Cage of Death for the right to face the Hardcore Champion. You came out successful… In a ring that was filled with 4 other men. Match two, Revolutionary Wars, TLC Match for the World Championship, You, Me, Kanimaniac. You retain the BEAUTIFUL World Championship. But, you and I have never faced of one-on-one, man vs. man. And I’ll be candid with you I’m hyped! I’m ready to go buddy! You’re one of the greats in this business. You’re tied with Caleb Spires for the most championship reigns in this company. And to face you, it’s a great honor, because you’re a tried and true veteran of this company. But here is the thing Mack, I’m hungry. I’m ready. I want to entertain every single fan out there right now, and every one of them that is watching us at home. I want to prove to the world that I can leave my mark in this ring. And quite frankly, I’m on a hunt for the gold because I believe that the championship grants leverage to entertain the masses. Mack, you’re a great competitor, and it’s an honor to face you, but the Fatal Attraction has no bias…”
Greg pushes off of the crate and walks out of frame as Vendetta cuts to commercial. The penultimate match of the evening between Greg and Mack will takes place when the show returns.
