Former wrestling announcer Larry Nelson (real name: Larry Shipley) lost his battle with pancreatic cancer, passing away Monday night. Nelson announced for Verne Gagne's AWA promotion in the 80s.

He wrote an autobiography called "Stranglehold" – which you can still pick up on Amazon – that talks about his time in the wrestling business, and the ultimate demise of the AWA after many of their big stars left for the WWF.
