Today, Oculus Rift announced that Naughty Dog founder and former THQ executive Jason Rubin has joined the company.

Rubin will be leading Oculus Rift’s first-party content development for the VR headset. In a post on Oculus’ website, Rubin said, “There have only been a handful of times in my life where I saw something that I knew would change everything. The awe-inspiring tech Oculus is building is a portal into an incredible world that my daughter will one day consider to be normal. The moment I put it on, I wanted to help define that future.... The team at Oculus has been working to push the boundaries of what’s possible with hardware and software. I’m excited to bring together a new division dedicated to building high-quality VR content that helps define the platform and inspire others to do the same.”

Rubin is best known for being one of the co-founders of the legendary studio Naughty Dog, and played an instrumental role in creating such franchises as Crash Bandicoot and Jak and Daxter.

More recently, Rubin joined ailing THQ in 2012 as president to try to salvage the company and its array of games and properties. He was ultimately unsuccessful, and THQ closed up shop in 2013. For more on that, read this THQ post-mortem interview we did with Rubin.
