Disney has announced Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes, a new "2.0 Edition" launching in 2014 on all previous platforms, in addition to Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

All characters, Power Discs, and Toy Boxes from Disney Infinity 1.0 are compatible with 2.0, developer Avalanche confirmed. The Starter Pack comes with Thor, Black Widow, Iron Man, and a mysterious crystal shard piece. More play sets, both Marvel and other Disney-themed characters, will come to Disney Infinity 2.0.

Hawkeye, Hulk, Captain America, Iron Man, Black Widow, Thor, Loki, Spider-Man, MODOK, Rocket Raccoon, Groot, and more will star. Indeed, Disney Infinity is adding The Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, and more will join the cast of Disney's creative sandbox game.

Marvel writer Brian Michael Bendis is involved in writing the story for the Marvel Super Heroes 2.0 update. "This game could do for this generation what comics did for us," he said.

Now, Disney Infinity is "moving forward with the second phase," Agents of SHIELD star Clark Gregg said in a presentation.

More than 3 million Disney Infinity Starter Packs have been sold, Disney's Jimmy Pitaro said. "Disney Infinity has outperformed our competition in terms of total sales revenue," he continued. Toy sales grew more than 79% in the final two months of 2013, Pitaro explained.
